Re: Swearing on the Radio..

I'm fine with the usual swearing and fully understand that English is not the language here, however I nearly had an accident this afternoon whilst driving - I only paid attention because I heard 'Australian Christmas song', so I turned up the radio and on came Kevin Bloody Wilson.

WARNING! Strong language used, not safe for children and thank God they weren't in the car:

Not only did they play segments of the song (mainly just the chorus) the announcers kept repeating it over and over - they knew it was bad, because they were chuckling away. As was I...

Hold on a mo, people .... this is Swissieland - a land of paradoxes (nice way of saying hypocrisies).

Just to drift off track for a second and delve into the world of Swiss TV (kind of related).

Yep, swearing (in English), nudity are common (and it appears, accepted); inappropriate adult program trailers in between kiddies shows also prevail ....... and yet when The Simpsons come on (SF-DRS), there's a warning that it's not suitable for anyone under 14.

I know the humour is on several different levels (which is clever and subtle), but I'll happily let my 4yr. old watch it (Halloween specials and a few others excepted), but she won't be laughing at the same jokes as me.
Hi, I wanted to buy Ben Hur on DVD to show my 12 year old ,as here no one has ever seen it, but it said not before age 16? I wondered why? Really with all the nudity and lauguage that I see and hear.

Possibly the chariot race is why. From what I remember it's the most violent part of the film. However, IMO you as the parent are the ultimate censor as to what you consider is acceptable for your children to watch.

FWIW Ben Hur always seemed to be considered family viewing back when I was a kid, but that was quite a while ago.

The songs don't get censored because nobody here understands them :-)
