Err... Ali Whatsit has lit the blue touchpaper, retired to a safe distance, watched the display and subsequent fallout, and f**ked off again.

Shall we get back to discussing bra sizes for big boobied ladies and what to do when you've had an episiotomy?

This one is all trolled out...

So if I don't like it, I should just close my eyes (uncheck ''show avatar'') and let it go?

I don't like corruption, racism and slavation. I'll just shut it out of my mind and there we go. I am all free and happy again. It won't change the world, it won't open people's mind and respect for each other.... But Hey! Why should I care, I have a beach to walk on!

To want to make this forum a nice place for everyone without hatred pictures is a waste of time, right? Most of my friends I have in CH are from and on this forum.

But Hey, I have a beach! Ciao!
Am just saying that you've done your best in voicing your opinion about that avatar and its out of your hands now. If it isnt removed, the next best thing is to find another alternative to ignore it - especially if its going get your blood pressure up.

Mods, I suggest this thread be closed. Nil's other thread is much more constructive and it covers the same topic anyways.

But you nicely select your pictures... "slavery" about "selling nigger" is clearly a thing in the US.

But why we are not talking about the pictures of Egyptian enslaving other Egyptians and also black? Maybe because they were Arabs doing the bad things?

Don't pick the wrong fight here, it was done many long time ago. It now become history. Not a nice shiny one but a cruel, horrible proof of what, we (Human Beings) have done.

So if a black people is offended simply by seeing a "nigger slave" picture there is something wrong with that person.

Because it's also a proof of history, of persecutions, enslavement, against their ancestor. Those ancestor did something about it, fight back, and educated millions, and finally got accepted as they are: other human beings.

Now in the states there's many many blacks who have success, including...a president (ok it's fairly recent).

But one thing is sure: "Selecting" your history or playing the victim card, only damage their popularity, nothing else.

Good lord Nil, I'm quite sure that what they meant was "sticking up for your friends" works when you share their beliefs. And so, what if, like, you are friends with someone and then you find out they believe in something that you find horrifying- would you support that belief?

Wanting to censor someone might seem normal to you, but to a lot of people censor is a very, very, dirty word.

-But you can say it!
non censorship isn't normal for me... I am wondering where you got that.

If you tell me I can put any picture I want as my avatar with the only purpose of freedom of speech, I guess the pictures I post earlier are ok too?

Re: Selecting Avatars

But what I find most absurd is that our dear Ali counters Zuger's avatar with a (more or less) offensive picture of Jesus, which is ALSO forbidden in Islam, at least theoretically, because I have yet to see riots on the streets for Jesus caricatures.
It's very hard not to stereotype if you do whatever stupid things people expect of you.

Re: Selecting Avatars

I find it rather interesting that the OP just leapt to the conclusion that Zuger is a Christian and changed his avatar accordingly, based on, er... what exactly?

For the record: I'm a Christian, and I'm not in the least bit offended by the OP's avatar. I'm more offended by his attitude to KeinFranzosich and his 'filthy faith' comment.

I love it when people, offended by stereotypes, conform to them...

Honestly, I saw that picture and thought, "dude (in pic) has too much going on in his mind, head's gonna explode". But I feel like that these days, so, there you go.

You can find offensive stuff wherever you want to find it. I don't notice any Christians fussing about Timow's avatar of Jesus passing a drug test. Even though it's pretty well accepted that he hallucinated under the influence of ergot .

I didn't say you support censorship- you did, by calling for it. Freedom of speech means some toes get stepped on.

Re: Selecting Avatars

I don't see any fighting over religion here.

I see one rather childish Muslim trying to make a point and failing miserably, and several people agreeing that he's failing miserably.

That's all.

To be honest, I'm surprised this thread is still open.
