| | Selecting Avatars
I dont know if this should be in complaint corner but i am offended by the new avatar selected by a forum member Zuger http://www.englishforum.ch/members/16489-zuger.html http://www.englishforum.ch/customava...tar16489_3.gif
I am not against freedom of speech but respect for people from another religion is different.
I hated selecting my new avatar just to make people feel how do i feel | The following 2 users would like to thank for this useful post: | | The following 4 users groan at for this post:

It's enough to express how you feel.
No need for an eye for an eye...

No need for an eye for an eye... | | | | | No but maybe it will pass the message to the mods who don't seems to care enough for those members of this religion who could feel very offended by it.

I am relieved to know that ifI want, I could put those pictures knowing I have the freedom to do so on this forum, no matter how insulting it could be. | This user would like to thank Nil for this useful post: | | This user groans at Nil for this post:

Yes no more discussion of non veg dishes on the forum or halal meat as it might offend vegetarians.
Incidentally I feel the sudden urge to eat some foi gras | The following 2 users would like to thank sun&rain for this useful post:

It's pictures of an other area, century. With bad things.
Look:
Are you going to be insulted by that?
Your poster is part of history. An horrible one, yes, but "we" (=human beings) have evolved (not that I feel guilty of the abuse of others). Maybe it's time for you to evolve and see other things? Like historical picture, like memo, reminder on how things were, like abuses of humans beings in general, etc...

1st one = history and we've evolved since the days of the amoeba brained individuals of the 1700/1800's.
2nd and third ones political/religious crap by intolerant muppets.

It was a relevant discussion a few pages back, but now it's just lolcats extreme.
The matter of avatars is being discussed amongst the mods at the moment, but for now it's lock time.

It's called freedom of speech and that includes the right to question and offend religions as individuals please.
I'm a athesist but I respect others for their choices.
Including those who perhaps have less tolerance and might need educating (person in question).
Perhaps a quiet PM to the member explaining why you found it offensive is the way to go.
Not a tit for tat avatar war. I don't find either offensive by the way.
I couldn't care less both religions are witchcraft as far as I am concerned. To many wars faught over this mumbo jumbo.

I don't find either offensive by the way. | | | | | I am not going to PM him beacuse he intentionally offended me (us); no one changes his avatar daily and it needs some serious thinking behind having an avatar. You've proved exactly why religion is a problem, a lack of tolerance. It should be education excercise and not all guns blazing.
You're just proving the wrongly held values of the person with the offending avatar to be correct.
Stand up be the bigger person..don't rise to it.

Nil first mentioned this topic in another thread but it's good to take the bull by the horns and now openly discuss.
Avatars are the only visuals we have of most posters. If you want to present yourself as a Jesus-hater, fine, but remember that's how I'm going to envision you until I've met you in person. I met Dodgyken this weekend and am still convinced he wears pink underclothes.

Tolerance is knowing how important it can be for other people and accepting it, being respectful about it.
Tolerance is not a one way from one side. You want believers to be tolerant to non-believers and not annoye them with their religions, you should be able, non-believers to respect the believers in the faith and not go nasty, disrespectful and careless of their beliefs.
It goes BOTH side!
