You will need to weigh the mouse droppings so Coop can send you a bill for the extra food.

Too bad you're not in the USA. There you could sue them bastards for, say, 25 million dollars (20 millions as a standard belong to the past; the dollar isn't worth much any more). Of course there would be an out-of-court settlement over half a million or so, 300 grand of which would go to your lawyer for writing four letters, and you and your lawyer would live happily ever after, unless you moved to Switzerland.

I called Coop twice now, because I haven't heard anything back. The guy yesterday told me to hold on to the toast with the mouse poop, that maybe I'd have to send it in somewhere. So it's still sitting here in my house. Gross. I got a pretty rude response from the woman I talked to this afternoon. She told me I have to have more patience, that I can't expect to have a response so quickly. I asked her if she didn't find it disgusting and she just responded "ist das jetzt gut für Sie". I said no, not really, but what choice do I have.
Meanwhile they are still selling this Toastbrot in the Coop. Is this not a big deal? If Coop knows there is contaminated food out there, wouldn't they take it off the shelves immediately?

Give them a deadline date to respond/resolve the matter. State that you will take the matter further if they do not deal with it by then,or provide a satisfactory response.
Tell them what you want: refund/replacement/apology/compensation etc.

Thats too bad Chris. You did well to contact Coop. I just dont know if they could do anything about it. I would report it to 20 minutes or any other newspaper. Get publicity out of this. It is gross and it shouldnt of happened

Maybe the Coop don't believe you have a lump of mouse droppings! Maybe they have someone every day complaining about a lump of seeds in one corner of a cooked loaf.
Rodents crap anywhere, not just in one place. Why would anyone make a pile out of the droppings and then put a loaf in it?

I would use: http://konsumentendienst.coop.ch -> Produktanliegen -> Fehlerhafte Produkte - "Nein, ich möchte eine persönliche Antwort" (at the bottom).
The logo on the page says, they are ISO9001 certified.
They have to follow-up every complaint!
Once, when I was stuck at the Munich main station at night, I saw a couple of mice running and chasing each other happily along the shelves of one of the 24h shops there, just next to the bread-shelves.
Shop personnel was oblivious.
I vowed to never buy anything "open" there again, ever.

I don't know what the habits of mice are, but I know mice droppings when I see them. And I didn't say someone made a pile of the droppings. I don't know how the production of this bread works and I don't really care. But it's obvious that there's some hygienic issues. All I expect is a reaction from the person who deals with such situations. And it'd be nice to know that they are doing something about it.

Either bring it back to where you bought it or - very Swiss - just throw it away.

Because it is impossible to keep mice out of grain supplies EU rules allow up to five mouse pellets per kilo of grain.
Remember that when you eat your wholegrain bread. | | | | | Oh please, that's just too
An excuse to stick to pristine white bread though
Not healthy but sooooo good (even better dressed up a cucumber sandwich) |
