iTunes rant!! Gerrrr

ARGGGHH!!!

Okay so for my boyfriendís birthday I thought I would buy him a 50CHF iTunes voucher (along with other goodies of course). He went to go redeem the points and it says it was invalid because it was in the wrong currency of his iTunes account because he has an English one and the card was in CHF!

So I rang up apple customer services and they said there was nothing they could do about it on the phone as it was 'out of their hands' therefore I had to query it online (which is another rant, not being able to just talk to a human about anything anymore and doing it all online!). So after 20 minutes of answering all their stupid questions I get a response saying we have recognised your query you will get a reply within the next 24-48 hours!!!

The next day I wake up to a lovely email from apple saying thank you for your query but there is nothing we can do about it because the iTunes voucher has to be in the same currency as your account!! After all of that!! Why could they just not tell me on the phone!!

ARGHHH!

Why are they so bloody awkward!!

It goes to the same company at the end of the day!! This has really f***ed me off! So basically I have just wasted 50CHF and pretty much just thrown it down the toilet. I canít afford to just throw away 50chf as Iím so skint anyway! Itís ridiculous!!

BLOODY APPLE!!

Okay rant over

(Still makes me angry though!)

The Store is in German, but I think the Web page is the language of your choice , if not , access it via Google Translate.

Re: iTunes rant!! Gerrrr

You posted about this over a month ago and I suggested exactly what UTH suggested. It's not difficult to shop on the Swiss site. Your iTunes remains in English, it's only the store content that's in German. And singers, songs and bands don't have different names in German....well most don't.

BTW....my offer still stands.

Re: iTunes rant!! Gerrrr

ahh! i just rechecked the old post!! You are very correct! i really need to check things like that first really!

Okay so im a tad bit confused. If i get a swiss account and buy music on my iphone, will it be on a completely seperate option when playing music from my uk account? as in will both lots of music come up or do you have to chose what account you play from?

Im can be a bit simple sometimes and a lil bit paranoid about somehow ended up losing all my/boyfriend music!! you may laugh but i would somehow find a way of doing something stupid like that accidently!!

Re: iTunes rant!! Gerrrr

No, all the music on your phone no matter what the source - UK, US, CH iTunes accounts, or ripped from your CDs - shows up in iTunes. You have one iTunes program on your computer or phone but multiple iTunes Store accounts. It's like shopping at Migros, Coop and Aldi......it all gets cooked in the same kitchen!

Can't you just sell it on? Do you/your BF have no friends or colleagues with a Swiss account?

Worst case, you might lose a few franks to make it worthwhile.

Re: iTunes rant!! Gerrrr

It isn't Apple's fault. The blame should be directed to the recording company execs because they are the one who decides which songs should be available in which territory. Hence, like most music download portals, iTunes is segregated.

Re: iTunes rant!! Gerrrr

If you can't find anything you like or know in the Swiss iTunes store, why not try something new?

In the spirit of Oktoberfest I introduce you to.......

Well thing is, when i tried to sell it, of course because everyone is out to get something for nothing the best price i got for it was 30CHF! (and that was from a mate!)
plus, pretty much everyone i know has a uk account or no itunes account at all!
bloody technology these days!

If you are seriously having a problem selling it, and assuming it (the code/card) has not "expired", I'll give you Sfr45 for it. I work in Basel, and could meet at SBB one lunch next week (just PM me). Can not help exchanging it for a UK card/credit, as my uk itunes account is empty, and I only use my US or CH ones now..
