has any one else noticed the growing number of spiders during the month? Is it like mating season or something? I have spotted 2 BIG spiders inside my house which is on the level 6 *ewwww* and heard a few others complain...

It is the time of year for them to find somewhere warm. I chased a very ugly looking spider away from my friends' house. It had built a very large web from their bedroom window sill. A few minutes later it was climbing back up the wall again with a friend!

Thanks for getting rid of them they were bloody ugly. I couldnt believe the cheek of it to try and crawl back up my House Wall again After you had blasted it with my high pressure Hose pipe Lol.
i would leave them as they catch any other small insects or that silverfish you never see (unless you have night vision) that are living in your house.
we have a large house spider that lives in the corner of the living room in a small crack of the skirting board - it runs across the room virtually every evening and then runs back again an hour or 2 later.. we havent named him yet

OMG, I was wondering this very same thing this week as I keep my windows closed at all times due to the windows be absolutely covered in the creepy (BIG) buggers, but in the last week there have been 2 BIGGER black furry ones scurrying across the floor which completely freaked me out. I don't mind them until they enter my home...hate to kill them, but I like to sleep with both eyes closed.
I wonder what the conkers do. I'll have to go look that one up!

That is a coincidence. There is a large bag of conkers in your garage. I can see that your son may be missing a few later
Sept/Oct is, in fact, mating season for the spidies.
Apparently, it is the female that builds the web and catches the food (flies & wasps etc.) The male is mainly just there for reproduction purposes. If he is not quick enough away after he has 'done the business' he is liable to get eaten as well
tell me about it. I live on the ground floor....
My dog fancies them though as he does flies (he actually catches em and eats them) I try not to let him but many times he is faster. and just to ensure noone sleeps tonight:

I despise spiders, especially ones with evil bits. One time I walked out the front door and saw one with obvious terrorist intentions. I screamed and such but fortunately, my partner at the time destroyed it.
I thanked him for saving me but he replied "I didn't do it to save you. I did it to save my ears from that awful noise you were making."

EEK! I just killed one about as big as in that video! Even my husband freaked as it scurried across the bathroom floor as we were getting the kidlet into the bath. Gads, I'm going to drink more wine and hope if they decide to start feasting on me in bed that I'll be too drunk to notice. Gads...that's one nice thing about up north, no freakin' giant furry spiders!
