Mine leave bread'n'cheese out for the tooth fairy!
Every night!
And it's still there next morning.

Re: Does anyone else's neighbours have any late night peculiar habits..

It took me quite a few months to realise that my neighbour has these long (several hours) and rather aggressive (name calling etc.) fights during the night with himself.

Re: Does anyone else's neighbours have any late night peculiar habits..

My noisiest neighbor is my 4 year old daughter snoring in the next room when she's got a cold. It's louder than the airport.

Just lately, she's started having conversations with herself in her sleep, and in French, although she keeps telling me she only speaks English.

It's a little spooky

The problem with overlooking windows and not quite enough tree coverage.

I think my neighbor and I have both become accustomed to looking upon each other in the all-together.

My neighbour goes rowing every night on his rowing trainer-and he does not have to leave the house!

My neighbour decides most nights although after a drink (assumption here ) he decides to opera sing and as the village is soo quiet at night it sounds sooo loud... it isnt the singing that is annoying though he is actually quite good its his method of tuning.. He gets in the car before the singing starts and revs it up really loud for about a minute, gets out locks the door and sings and then after a short burst he does it again..
What amuses me most is the donkey that decides to join in on occasion

Re: Does anyone else's neighbours have any late night peculiar habits..

I (unfortunately) live above a small restaurant and every night we can clearly hear the cleaning lady do her job from around 10:45 to after 12:30. Also there is an old couple living above us. Usually they´re quiet on their own. But when their grandchildren (a girl about 10 or 11 and a boy about 8 or 9) come to visit (, which again unfortunately is quite often), it´s a nightmare. One afternoon, I was trying to get some sleep because I hadn´t slept well the night before (thanks to the cleaning lady), but the children were stomping the floor so loud, as if there was construction work going on or heavy things fell on the floor. After about 30 minutes´ loud noises, I couldn´t bear it any more and went upstairs to try to talk to them. The elderly lady came and I said that I could hear loud noises coming from their apartment and if they could turn it down a bit. But she just shrugged her shoulders and said that it was not late at night and that the children were playing, so there was nothing she could do. From then on, every time the children come, I went out...
What´s more outrageous is that the owner of the "restaurant" and the lady above us "complained" to the agency that I had "harrassed" them, and said that I was "particular". Can´t believe it! But the good thing is that I´m getting out of this place soon!

Perhaps a tad controversial but

1. Why did you choose to live above restaurant???? Well, lesson learned I guess.

2. The old lady has a point. Her grandchildren are playing, during the day, she prob cherishes every moment with them so...I can understand. Not her fault you were tired. Although her complaining about you was bit off, unless you went up all guns blazing.

But hey, at least your moving soon and hopefully a peaceful environment

Re: Does anyone else's neighbours have any late night peculiar habits..

Our neighbour has just bought himself a robotic lawnmower, and it seems to be on the night shift. Technically speaking its not too loud, but its an odd noise and you can hear it moving around, which is very odd.

I also don't think he's setup the perimeter wire as it keeps trundling off down the road, which always amuses me - that'll teach him to be so smug thinking he can drink wine and let his robot do all his work

Re: Does anyone else's neighbours have any late night peculiar habits..

A few months back in the apartment above ours moved a family with 8 children. A few have already left home, but unfortunately for our quiet living they have married and reproduced themselves in abundance, which result in a hord of children and grandchildren of assorted ages. During their festive days (which usually correspond to working days for us) they celebrate for several hours. There will be for sure much more, but according to the noise we hear their celebration consists in moving all furniture and singing in chorus (and given their number they form a real one) starting from midnight onwards.
Fortunately, we are moving into a house in three months.

Oh yes I have lived beside the worst of the worst of neighbours with bad habits. One caused us to sell our house and move. He would have a friend over and put on country and western oh high at midnight and sing for hours. Looking back in hindsight we never designed that house right, should have had the bedroom the otherside of the house and it would not have been so bad.

Re: Does anyone else's neighbours have any late night peculiar habits..

After a year of having no one in the apartments on either side of us, we had a family move in on one side, and a couple move in on the other side within the space of two weeks. They are both British and they both enjoy loud domestics late at night. My husband said that one couple were arguing at 1am the other night - fortunately I'm the world's heaviest sleeper and never heard a thing.

Then the guy upstairs we've nicknamed Romper Stomper, given he stomps - thuds his heel into the floor - when he walks around his apartment.

Bit of shock at first, given we've never lived in such close quarters with others like an apartment block. But you get used to it.
