I've actually seen it happen quite a few times. Twice in a bus and a couple of times on trains.

Yesterday, a group of Icehockey spectators on Tram 10 smoked massively. I changed the tram as soon as it was possible, because the whole tram was stinking

I actually find that shocking, i haven't smoked on public transport for at least 20 years and don't even think about it.

They must have entered the tram at the Airport and only went to Leutschenbach/Seebach which means a relatively short stretch but the effect was horrible. In the trams of the old day I would have opened windows. The tram driver said something about police, but to no avail. Yes, we both and lots of others, were on the LOSER side, but you might guess how we all will vote next time. And then, the smokers will get the bill. Possibly in the form of a law, clearly surpassing anything I would like

You must be the only one then. It appears all the other smokers think about little else and have to light up as soon as they step off the bus or train.

Yes, you're right. I mean, there are of course responsible smokers, but there aren't too. But to tell you, when you're leaving the big cities and go out to the countryside, then People will be much more responsible. Maybe it's just a "big City Thing"

My observation is a bit like a colour gradation chart - very red in the outlying suburban large towns like Rüti, ZH- then cooling down slightly towards "real" cities (dilution, maybe just as many people smoking but just as many not) and opposite direction towards countryside.

Do you mean:

or actually:

Your post would suggest the latter but you wrote the former.

Hit them hard!

"Who throws away a cigarette butt in Lausanne in the canton of Vaud or does not clear his dog's droppings and gets caught, pays 150 francs locally. Public urinating costs 200 francs and spits 110 francs. One gets away a little bit cheaper in Zurich: cigarette butts and spits cost 80 francs each."

In that case, I spit on you as I throw my butt on the ground and piss on it to ensure that it's out.

For good measure, my doggie does his thing on your shoes.
