The like to stop whereever they feel like, for example in a doorway oblivious to the fact that people are trying to pass.
- They have a limited field of vision, they simply refuse to note that people are trying to pass or whatever.
This is Trademark Swiss... there is nothing Asian about it...

Sounds like Swiss people to me.
Aren't they the ones buying their Gipfeli in the morning and paying with a 200chf note.

Or the woman at lunchtime who paid for about 25chf worth of shopping with a 1000chf note

Can we complain old people shopping at lunchtimes? Again?

And they like to take pictures of weird things (quite often my dog, who is certainly cute but quite common as dogs go, and a mutt).
They sometimes ask to take pictures with me. Especially when I'm wearing heels. I think it makes them LOL that I am a foot taller and wider than most men in any given group of Chinese or Japanese.

Re: Asian tourists - rather "clumpsy" people?

First of all dont even bother with the racist-stuff, im certainly not racist, this is just me noticing a common behavour among our swedish tourist friends.

- they hog all the saunas, and they insist on going completely naked even if they are ugly
- they insist on blocking up our roads with their volvos and saabs
- they form long queues at the lunch counter at 11am
- they always smell like a strange mix of herring and aquavit
- and what’s with all the blond hair? Don’t they have a sense of individuality?
- they only have two facial expressions – smiling or blank

Am i the only one who have noticed this? A friend of mine who used to live in Sweden told me its even worse there, he sometimes needed to physically move locals out of his way on the sidewalk, literally almost lifting them up just to get past.

The whole cart? That big, clunky metal mesh thing with the wonky wheels you picked up with all contents and tried to get it on the belt? Props to you. I can hardly steer them

Alternatively, it's always funny going up to a Swiss person and asking in English if they're ok and do they require assistance as they seem "a bit lost?"
It's all the Sauser we're having at lunchtime at the moment. Also, I'm never lost, I know exactly where I am, just not where everything else is.

....- Two girls simply put the whole cart on the belt at coop, ignoring the fact that everyone else took their stuff out of the cart. Its like they have never seen that system before.
I'm not too used to the pay-shoping cart idea, so somethings are different.

I usually just try and carry everything on my own. On this topic I could probably learn from the Asians (Specifically Orientals in this example).

Strangely enough it has never occurred to me to go up to a group of small tourists waving my camera and asking to have my picture taken with them. Maybe I should. Would confuse the heck out of them.

Now this is something I never understood. In the States, the shopping carts have non-pivoting rear wheels, which act as sort of a keel, so if you are going full bore down an aisle you can take the corner and not have to be an acrobat. Manipulating a cart here with a baby in one arm and leather soled shoes was an adventure. WTF is up with that, yo? Freakin Swiss.

This summer my son (of the ginger hair fame in another thread) was snapped a number of times by various tourists. One couple had a mini instamatic camera (as those of my generation used to call them) and gave him a copy of the snap. He was rather thrilled.

Years of training, man.

My favourite trolleys are the airport type ones, we once borrowed one to push our luggage up the hill in Lugano and then raced down the hill with them at night. There was no traffic, before anyone panics. Fun times. I also like to use IKEA trolleys to significantly speed up shopping by using them like a scooter. Again, with due care for those around me.

Ok, back to Asian tourists, not further specified.

And I should have charged 5SFR for every picture that was taken of my dog by tourists from everywhere (including US) that one day we spent in Luzern. Now I know how celebrities feel - followed, stared at, pictures taken, some secretly, half-covered, others openely , some asking could they be in the picture with the dog..

some UK supermarkets have magnet things so the wheels block when you try and take them outside. Do you know how heavy they are to drag when the wheels are blocked? And then when you do return them they have the cheek to complain that the wheels are worn flat.

I think this is not "Asian tourist" behavior so much as just "tourist from somewhere far, far away" behavior...
That's a bit strong. I think it is more "people in a supermarket anywhere in the world" behaviour.
