Personally, If I approached a tram, bus or any other public transit, and there wasn't room, I wouldn't get on and would wait for the next one. Seems to be a logical mass-space issue there. On certain buses at certain times, this is a fairly standard practise.
I would have had to wait 15 min. with 2 kids. Do you have children? And there was room some people just needed to step aside.

that is an interesting point...

tons of luggage... any time.... any day... free
prams the size of small cars.... any time.... any day.... free

but if I should try to take my bike on a train?.. better be a w.e. and it better be prepared to show it's travel ticket.
i guess bikes take up space that can be used by people. for luggage, you're meant to put them on the racks and between the seats and so don't take any additional space.

there's another thread about fines for people putting bags on seats.

Ya! ok then. Give us a smile when I aid you with your bike and child

No dogs on seat though because their poo hole comes in direct contact with the seat fabric. Exception would be dogs with boxer shorts.
ya, see .. I'm afraid that's where my plan falls down... I don't have any kids so I would have to find some ( yummy? ) mummy willing to let me borrow their sprog and balance said sprog on my bike seat for the duration of the trip.

maybe a dog WOULD be easier... he ( all dogs are he's ) WOULD have an easier time balancing.

Re: People not moving when I try to get on tram with stroller

I can't remember the last time I sat down when traveling with a stroller on the rare occassion I use public transport. So do I get a refund on the ticket I bought? Of course not.

Bike, dog, luggage, it's all good, bring them on board, I have no particular view on whether they need tickets or not. But since when are children at the same level of priority as animals or inanimate objects?
Seriously, when did people become so intolerant?

Me too. I don't know why everyone is always so stressed out. Biggest idiots are people who run wildly with tunnel vision just to catch a bus/tram risking their life.

I mean what is worse? Few minutes late or ending up in hospital? If late is not an option then leave earlier.

Irrelevant whether I have children or not. Logical thought I think is the big difference here.

Bringing children into public spaces and transit is not a new concept this year or last year or the last few decades. But for those who have the ability, fore-thought and time management skills, it should be no problem in undertaking such an outing.

I've watched my mother do it numerous times in the past with more than a couple whining brats. It's not rocket science-she barely even had a highschool education.

i think that's one of the problem: people thinking their inanimate object (buggy) is more important than people who want to travel.

So I know you're trolling but you do know the difference lies in the contents of said buggy, don't you?
Spawn, sprog, kid, etc.

Re: People not moving when I try to get on tram with stroller

Isn't it ironic how there are so many threads on this forum by some of the contributors to this current subject that complain that Switzerland is stuck in the 1950s. Perhaps some people need to take a long hard look at themselves...
  • Women being viewed as troublesome for bringing children and prams on public transport.
  • Women taking children shopping.
  • A downer on supermarket car parks catering for families.
  • Breast feeding in public.
  • The perils of bringing the children on flights.
    The list goes on...

Seems there are a few self confessed and shameless dinosaurs in the expat community, too...

My dog is my child, and is treated as such , i am too young for the real version..........and of course thus takes precedence over anyone elses child, whether it be real, of the dog variety or other

I know. I understand that some people don't like kids, I don't think I even deserve special treatment. But seriously, my kids were there what about them? Do they like being stared at and seeing their mother pushed and cursed at? No, they said he was stinky and should be put in the trash.

You are assuming too much. I am sure there are many sexist dinos here but I definitely am not one of them. Let us go through your shopping list-

No only the troublesome ones are viewed like that by me. Sex of the parent is irrelevant to me.

Don't drive so don't care. Is there car park space for chilfree couples who don't want to deal with noisy families?

No problem with well trained children but the bad parent and their child you can spot from a mile. Irrespective of that it's hard to ignore constant ear drum piercing noise.
