Re: People not moving when I try to get on tram with stroller

Hi
congratulations for your baby, and well yes try to not buy this big prams, buy a bugaboo camaleon, you can go fine out without any help, or a quinny zap extra (you will need help to put it in the bus (because is little, not high enough).
dont worry , you will be fine.

greetings

I'm due to give birth in a few months. I was scared about giving birth alone in a foreign language and i was scared about attempting breastfeeding in public.

But now i think that these are the least of my worries. Having read through the whole of this thread i am more scared about leaving the bl**dy house with said baby. Wonder where i can purchase one of those tank prams and does it come with mother and baby body armour too?

I moved here pregnant also with those same fears. I find most people here to be very nice about children. This was very unusual for me. I think I would have left by now. As for this thread, surely they do not represent a majority.

ahh and about breastfeeding, is fine, if you cover your breast in public, in a restaurant, try to be next to a woman, (man found it bad... ) but always try to cover yor baby and breast.

hehehe, sounds more like you were grumpy, in a bad mood, (perhaps due to sickness) and looking for a little self-comfirmation.

Personally when I have a complaint and post it, I would expect (and encourage!) opposite opinions to perhaps gain some real perspective, and not just brand any opinion I disagree with as trolling. On that note, looking though some of the comments, the main trolling came from posts agreeing with your stance.
I don't think I was taking a stance. At least that was not my intention. I respect different opinions if they include real solutions. I don't know who trolled or who didn't, but some were on here just to annoy others I feel. I 'm just tired and I have relived that moment all day.

I get it, you want people to get upset. Well done. I think I will stay home til my kids are old enough to deal with society on their own. At least they speak the language.

THat is just a very verbose way of saying "annoy" anyway.

Cajon Swiss: don't let the EF bullies get to you. Just ignore them. They are not representative of the majority of EF members. And certainly DON"T consider staying at home till your babies are bigger. Get out there and enjoy your life here, with them.

I am glad I have children to fill my time, if you would have then perhaps you would not be so miserable.
Wow. Wow. Wow.

There were sympathetic non parents to your situation too but you let these trolls get to you.

Thats the internet. You cant control keyboard warriors but saying stuff like that above really takes the cake. Doesnt mean everyone who have children are happy and doesnt mean that everyone who doesnt have children are miserable.

Enjoy basking in the sympathy of fellow smug mums.

Re: People not moving when I try to get on tram with stroller

Spot on, biff.

To the OP:
This thread simply devolved into the same pattern that others do. The signal to noise ratio is way into the negative here, and positive contributions, which may share your viewpoint or present a valid counterpoint, are drowned out by immature prats, the "she done me wrong so you are too" crowd or those who can't contribute to the conversation due to lack of experience but find it hilarious to add their drivel.
Look past the noise and there are some excellent comments, either way, in this thread. Don't take the drivel to be indicative of society here.

Chill pill time, there is no need for any party in this debate to get into making defensive or aggressive absolute statements.

@biff, thank you for that. Someone had to say it.

I really cringed at some of the comments here. Not funny indeed....

You are right. To those people I am sorry. The negativity really got to me here. I really was not trying to imply that at all. I know it came off that way and I am sorry.

I was looking for sympathy and well just an ear, similar experience...I am new to all this and I had no idea that people would be so mean. So glad it could become so entertaining to some. All I really know is that I will never do that again, not here. Wow! What a way to spend a sick day!

not really

actually, many people manage to get around zurich with their buggys and manage to get on trams and trains without problem or manage to get help from others.

never mind annoying old folks or upsetting people so much that they tell you to f- off before leaving the tram.

while it is easy to paint a picture from only your one-sided account of the incident, even by what you said and your attitude on this thread, i strongly suspect it is down to you and your attitude than the big bad anti-kid crowd in zurich.

EDIT: i have some sympathy on the staring thing and can understand you finding it creepy. but apparently it is the done thing here in switzerland. oh. and i guess you can console yourself with the fact that while buggy problems may be annoying, i guess there's a lot we could be thankful for if our problems are relatively minor ones such as this.

I don't live in Zurich. Many people pointed out that they also had problems. Don't you get tired of this? I mean ok I was a rude stressed out mom who deserved everything I got. Please just leave me alone. I never intended all this or to prove that their was an anti-kid crowd. Just venting... Next time I will pay more attention to the disclaimer.

please stop replying to this thread. i don't have any kids (and am apparently, impotent, jealous and miserable) and so have nothing better to do than write rubbish all day in response to your posts.

Re: People not moving when I try to get on tram with stroller

OP, when people spot a soft place sometimes, they will test their intuition and target it. Internet is a flaky thing, you can't see the smirks and smiles, it takes a little while to get used to read between the lines. It's not worth the drama, either, nor think that the culture in general is a bunch of ill mannered rednecks. Will just take you a little while to fish out the many nice folks, to maneuvre around to fit in (literally, with the buggy)..We have more nice and helpful threads than the rippin-on-somebody ones, just check out the archives.
