| | Re: People not moving when I try to get on tram with stroller
I havent read the other posts but, I had the same problem and not just people not willing to make space but also the place for handycap/stroller in the tram/bus seem to be the most popular and wanted place to get in.
So I learned to say "Könnte Sie Platz machen bitte?" (Could you make place , please?) and worked wonders.
Also in the bus the place is even more limited, so when there are like 3 strollers people still wants to go out from the middle door, while having place to walk to the alternative door, so i just learned to say "Bitte benutzen Sie die andere Tür" (use the other door please)
You will be surprised how much they listen and actually use the other door or make space for you. I got to believe that they just dont have common sense but are great if instructions are given.
Good luck and let me know if it worked!

| | Re: People not moving when I try to get on tram with stroller | Quote: | | | | | On the other hand....... it seems to me that there is a chemical transformation in some women`s brain when she has a baby that says, I am priority, I expect you to help, move out of the way, accept me changing my babies dirty nappy in public(which I witnessed in the biz section of a long haul not so long ago while her poor neighbour was trying to eat his breakfast) accept me breast feeding in public etc etc.
Im not saying you are one of those but clearly the average Joe experiences that in publc travel and so on and gets a bit fed up. | | | | |
Well yes and no.
When I was breast feeding I normally carried a bottle to give my kids while on public, but until you know how much breast can hurt when the milk want to fkng get out you will understand why sometimes women just dont care and HAVE to do it. To be fair I did use a baby blanket so no breast were showed to the public eye.

You can't stop people using public transport with prams, luggage, large amounts of shopping, large dogs. What would you propose?

And further more, I have had two kids for the record, I never once took them on a plane where they subjected others to their screaming (due to the fact they felt like they had been deep sixed in the ears), I never once took them on public transport, I would rather walk for an hour, and finally I never took them to restaurants unless they had a specific place for kids to eat. Others are totally inconsiderate and expect everybody else to make allowances for them simply because they have chosen to have a child.

So to recap, its a complaint by a mother , travelling in the evening on public transport, who got pushed and insulted by a teenage thug, and its turned into a "the public don`t give enough attention to a mother" discussion.
Proves my point

| | Re: People not moving when I try to get on tram with stroller | Quote: | | | | | No. But I have experienced the opposite... A women smashing a pram against me knee while I was trying to leave the tram. So, just let leave it like this: prams or no prams, people are equally uncivil when going in and out trams and buses. | | | | | I agree with that, however I think the reaction was a bit over the top. I mean I was pushed and cursed at. I always apologize if I accidentally bump someone.

Another would be to allow children to socialize in everyday situations and teach them how to behave there.
Each to their own...

Each to their own... | | | | | Yep, like taking them on a plane and acclimatising to pressure increases/decreases and allowing that learning process to interfere with all the other travellers who have slightly less interest in the upbringing of your spawn.

Proves my point | | | | | I don't even think it's that sensationalistic. It's just a mum looking for the same consideration being given to fellow passengers. Not attention seeking.
I'm sure she didn't get onto the tram with the express thought "Muahhahhah! I'm going to block up these passengers and purposely get in their way!"
You have a child, you live in a city, you work. Doesn't matter if you are male, female, the father, the mother or a nursery assistant, you don't deserve disrespect just because you have a pram.
So far from the herumphing protesters with all the bluster there's not yet been a solution. Muchos sh*t-stirring but nothing substantive.
