** The International Call Prefix (also called an international access code or an International Direct Dialing code - IDD) is a telephone dialing code used to dial out of a country when making an international call.
Brazil's is 0014. I don't really understand it. http://www.nationsonline.org/oneworl...ng-codes.htm#B
Also found by googling that a lot of scam calls had come from 0014 numbers. http://www.whocallsmefrom.com/prefix/0014
But anyway it wasn't from there, it was a relative of mine calling from the US.

To clear up the confusion, the calls are not from Brazil.
To ring into Brazil from another country (CH or UK) you would dial 0055 and then the local number.
To make an international call from Brazil you would dial 0014 and then the number that you want.
The numbers are displaying 0014 and that doesn't mean anything as they are easily spoofed, but if the call was from Brazil it would show 0055 and then the rest of the number. To be compliant with international telephone standards 0014 would actually be an area within the USA or Canada (anything starting 001).

455 is an unasigned area code in U.S.A/Canada (international prefix 001)
put there are many legit 4xx area codes which would appear as 0014xx on your phone. http://www.computerhope.com/areacode.htm
"If you get a call from an unassigned area code, it is likely a telemarketer is spoofing the phone number to prevent the call from being blocked or ignored"

Swisscom haven't been helpful with my inadvertently blocked call. E-mailed them as the website doesn't tell you how to unblock a call, even though it says you can do it through the Customer Centre. Got a call back from someone who didn't speak English and of course I don't speak French or German so eventually the answer was go into one of the stores and ask - I think. |

The more numbers you block them then the darn callers just invent more numbers to plague you.
Next step we need to invent a way to block not only single numbers but blocks of numbers?
For example all calls from "0014 55.........."

Thanks omtatsat, but the site's in English so shouldn't need to. Plus I e-mailed them in English.
Where in the Customer centre area is that info? I can find nothing like that when I look. Only thing that comes close is under the Fixed Nextwork section and that comes up with a general ad blocking option. No individual numbers listed anywhere.

I asked in Forum. With Analog you have to go into your Router Setting.
Type 192.168.1.1 . Then login. Then go under call list and delete the blocked number

Unfortunately omtatsat I get nothing like your screen. All I can find on the site regarding unblocking calls is the second picture. Which is slightly more helpful than what they previously had up before, but not a lot considering the info seems incomplete. What free ? for example?
Why is such a supposedly simlpe thing to do so damn complicated! I just want a simple and easy way to unblock a call. It was easy enough to block the damn thing! Why can't unblocking it be as simple? |
