| | Re: Swiss Grocery Shopping - Horrible Aisle Layout | Quote: | | | | | I've seen special parking for pregnant women. I think that is absurd. I see pregnant women that could pop at any minute doing hard-core step aerobics and/or jogging down the road with their iPhone earbuds in. Pregnancy isn't a disease, but it's so hilarious that it's treated like a handicap. | | | | | I've also seen some women who struggle to walk very far in the later stages of pregnancy. Waddling for a short distance is the best they can do.
Personally I sometimes offer to help a woman carrying heavy bags, more so if she's pregnant!

Oh yes, and let's not forget about baggers.
I miss flirting with 16 year old teenage boys who are bagging my intimate purchases. Geez... where else is a girl supposed to get her kicks from nowadays? Certainly not from the Migros cashiers. They are all emotionless.

Such bias against Americans - what is your problem exactly?
AFAIK, LiB has traveled outside of US AND Switzerland (including Asia), and given his previously stated job duties, I'd expect that he'd probably know a good deal more about what sorts of things "general populace" of the world prefer when shopping than most of the rest of us do.
S'ok though sugar, you can stick your fingers in your ears and "lalala" all you want, just because he's American. Bless your heart... | | | | | For such a big nation - in so many ways, you are a precious lot.
Have I got this right? Americans can go round the world trampling over cultures and demanding again and again "we can't you do things properly - like we do back home?" and if anyone questions this we have a "problem"?
I have spent months in the USA over the years and have number of good friends who are Americans, but this does not stop me defending both Switzerland and the UK from the American road roller when it's coming down our streets...

It isn't whether or not it's backwards here, or whether or not AbFab can see it, it's because Americans are the ones who are saying so that results in stubborn mind set. (If I remember right, that was actually specifically stated.)

Now back to dreaming about bag boys who are bagging my intimate purchases and then help me bring them out to the car.

Now back to dreaming about bag boys who are bagging my intimate purchases and then help me bring them out to the car. | | | | | In Florida many of the "bag boys" are retirees. Not that some of them aren't dreamy (some really are), but maybe alters the daydream a bit. | The following 2 users would like to thank Peg A for this useful post: | |

It ain't about Americans...it's about Switzerland being backwards and not realizing it. | | | | | This really has F^%$ all to do with Swiss supermarkets but please don't be blind to America's faults in your quest to rubbish all that is Swiss. America could really do with going 'backwards' - probably about 12 years - before a fraudulent manipulation of the democratic system, before the Patriot Act, the right to detain citizens without trial and gross state infringement of civil liberties, before an aggressive foreign policy, before a parabolic explosion in the national debt and money supply.
Don't get me wrong - I love America, have worked there, have great friends there, chose to get married there and still enjoy visiting every year. But please open your heart to the fact that the place just is not perfect.

So, how long until you man up, admit that it isn't working out for you here, and move on? Life is short!

The rest of us realize there are things needing improvement (either for us personally or the country / government in general) in some way and so we are HERE.
