This really has F^%$ all to do with Swiss supermarkets but please don't be blind to America's faults in your quest to rubbish all that is Swiss. America could really do with going 'backwards' - probably about 12 years - before a fraudulent manipulation of the democratic system, before the Patriot Act, the right to detain citizens without trial and gross state infringement of civil liberties, before an aggressive foreign policy, before a parabolic explosion in the national debt and money supply.

Don't get me wrong - I love America, have worked there, have great friends there, chose to get married there and still enjoy visiting every year. But please open your heart to the fact that the place just is not perfect.
You Sir, have completely missed the point..as in the point is in Hauptbahnhof and you're all the way in Walisellen. Are you by any chance illiterate?

The amount of time and energy you invest in trying to convice other people not to like it here is truly staggering.

So, how long until you man up, admit that it isn't working out for you here, and move on? Life is short!
Hmm, Zuri Oberland huh...interestingly just like Abfab. Do you guys by any chance share the same address? Also, you don't know me and therefore, I urge you not to draw any conclusion as to what and why etc. Mind you, you haven't posted on this thread as yet and thus before addressing me directly on personal matters, why don't you express you opinion on this very thread instead of being Abfab's spokesperson.

What a charmer! What is the point then - enlighten my poor backwards mind.
Darn it... this thread is heading down the boring topic of US vs. Switzerland. Can't we just talk about grocery stores, aisles, bag boys, fat carts, cashiers with fake breasts, intimate purchases and product selection?

Now back to dreaming about bag boys who are bagging my intimate purchases and then help me bring them out to the car.
Is teabagging legal at the Walmart checkout?

I wouldn't know. When I'm back in the States, I do all my shopping at Safeway and Fred Meyer's. Higher quality bag boys there.

I've also seen some women who struggle to walk very far in the later stages of pregnancy. Waddling for a short distance is the best they can do.

Personally I sometimes offer to help a woman carrying heavy bags, more so if she's pregnant!
I'm guessing that parking spaces for pregnant women would mean they are wider. I had to make sure I was parked with my door opening onto a bigger space with a column between the cars or someone might park too close and I couldn't get in the car with a bump. Once I had to climb through the passenger door!

I really dislike the layout of Coop in Zug. Vegetables are outside so you need to guess what meat they have inside to plan your meals. If you do happen to find something on special, you then need to go back outside at the end and buy the veges to go with it. Diapers and kids stuff is also upstairs - up the escalators or through a goods lift where there is no inside doors. Migros seems to have a more organised layout with food on one side and all the other stuff on the other side. I shop in one side of the store and out again

Yep, you caught me. I started this duplicate account in 2006 and made 467 posts, in the hopes that one day, I could surreptitiously agree with myself while responding to yet another one of your flag-waving, "I can't function outside of my comfort zone!" tirades.

The danger with spending all your free time posting on the internet is that, like or not, people do get to know you. Personally I think that you can't handle it here, and you want other people to be miserable because misery loves company, and every person you meet that likes it here and has a functional, happy life inches you closer and closer to realizing that the problem is probably you, not where you live. But, that's just me!

Also, the Züri Oberland is pretty big.

Alright, let's recap Sparky...thread in complaints corner about something related to the nature of retail stores. LIB (me) worked for one of the Swiss retailers and was in charge of certain matters..even implemented some changes you may or may not have seen at a store. I know the industry fairly well and thus am highliy qualified talking about it. Things you see in stores and the way business is run on a daily basis is at times against any logic and proven retail theories. If you're ever interested in some of the nitty gritty stuff, then feel free to come and meet me for a coffee and a chat. I promise you, you'll look at retail stores completely different.
Also, I didn't mean that you're Abfab, but you certainly know each other personally. As you didn't post on this thread except to criticize me.
...and Zuri Oberland is not that big.

You mean you're actually in there ensuring that the 'horrible aisle layout' continues - or won't they listen to you??

(Sorry I shouldn't have logged in as AbFab this time, but I can't be bothered changing again. BTW we think the Zuri Oberland is both big and beautiful...)

That would disqualify you from any sane discussion on supermarkets in Switzerland...
