I was assuming that the previous comment was a troll/joke. One would have to exhibit quite the level of ignorance to honestly claim that the US did not play a role in WWI, WWII, not to mention claiming Japan's WWII agression was never a threat. Almost like saying the holocaust never happened.
bending words much...I said that the 2 main events that caused a turn of event during WWII were at Stalingrad and El Alamein, not many US troops involved there...you people never read any non-american history books?

I never said that US didn't play any role...

Lol! That's like asking a Nobel Prize winner what the two main events were leading to them receiving the prize. "Well, being born, and when they handed it to me." Totally correct answer, still....

.....historically WWI, WWII outcomes were very dependant on US involvement.

not really....

I think that was pretty clear. Past semantics not a lot of bending of comments at all.

One definitely cannot claim winning a war based on a battle's out come. The US won many a battle in the last Iraq invasion, do you consider that a won war as well?

At least we Brits only have to buy one seat on an aircraft when travelling, you might well have basketball, 'football' and baseball, but from what I have seen there is little evidence of the majority of our American cousins playing them...unless eating counts as a sport in which case, hands up you are much better at it...

Fair enough, there is a appearant bias towards fat lazy Americans, but one must realize, it's a continent of over a half billion people with a culture of movies and media sensationalism. Although lazy/unatheletic American exist, there is also a huge population who love sport and partake regularly--this just isn't a great topic for a news feed or documentaries (must like most of the positives attributes of NA). Once thing I noticed last time I flew into JFK was the huge number of baseball pitches. Every park had 2-3 baseball diamonds, and there was a lot of parks.

All empty I would bet, apart from large groups surrounding hot dog stands...

It may take a sprint to get one, but at least when we do we can fit into them...

The "war" in Iraq was not really a war, just pure harassement against a state that can't defend itself and hasn't done anything against US...I call it cowardice...no war really...

Either way, citing a 'potential turning point' battle is far from winning a war. That hindsight logic just does not hold as how wars are defined. If the reds had indeed won the war after those battles, then all could have laid arms and gone home to their families.

As you said, the Iraq invasion was not really a war. A war begins with a declaration of war and ends with a surrender. If the axis has surrendered after Stalingrad and El Alamein, then yes, you would have a point.

the 25% adult figure mentioned in this piece is within the margin of error of the adult obesity figure frequently quoted for gringos.

I am actually shocked by how fat the lasses are in the UK nowadays, it's certainly gotten worse since I left.

Or am I tainted by all the scrawny chain-smoking swiss girls?
