Parallel universe / what constitutes a good offer?

Today is one of those days where I really don't feel like I belong here!

Two offers were sent my way this morning - both with a great fanfare - neither of which I quite get. Can someone tell me do the Swiss really get turned on by:

1) The chance to win a VIP package from KLM Switzerland which far from what one's imagination might conceive actually turns out to be that they will pay your entry fee for the Geneva marathon and give you a free shower at the end. [This is not a brilliantly targeted marketing campaign as, if I were to win and enter the marathon, I would probably need an ambulance at the end and would be unlikely to be fit to fly for a while]!

2) "Megastore Happy Weekend!" [their words, and yes in English] from Coop who are offering this valentine's weekend the very topically themed deal of 40% off Kopierpapiere (photocopy paper)

Eh !!??

Re: Parallel universe / what constitutes a good offer?

Got the KLM email as well while I also think it's funny they also offer a massage in the VIP corner and you may also win a ticket for other events (probably smaller than the marathon) ;-)

But seriously that has nothing to do with Switzerland has it? I mean KLM is not really a Swiss company. And crap publicity is crap publicity whereever you go...

Just delete the emails and worry about other things. Really first world problems

Re: Parallel universe / what constitutes a good offer?

Don't get me wrong - this was not a serious complaint by any means - I found the offers funny as much as anything. I am well aware how spoiled rotten lucky we are etc. etc. I just found the deals quite funny peculiar.

Swiss sales can be good - a number of sport places have had 50% this year

Re: Parallel universe / what constitutes a good offer?

80 Liter under counter freezers on special offer a Fust last week for 199.00 each which is pretty cheap. I handed over my Coop Superpoints card prior to paying for 2 of them and was astonished to be told that I had enough on the account to pay for them with points. So effectively free.

How's that for a good Swiss offer?

That all depends if you know a friendly check-out girl who just gives you a whole wadge of Co-op stamps or not
