Re: Dear SVP driver?

why don't you buy a new light unit and a touch up paint stick and fix it yourself...?

Taking it to a Swiss main dealer seems a bit excessive and stressful for what sounds like a minor repair.

Even if you can't fix it yourself, there are cheaper places to get the parts and the repair done...

Re: Dear SVP driver?

I'm happy with the main dealer, why would taking it anywhere else be less stress? The car is new and I have a good relationship with the garage, so when the light is in I'm happy to let them do it

Without a functioning rear lights not sure the car is legal to drive, but I'm sure I can check with the rozzers when I go to report it?

Re: Dear SVP driver?

Is the insurance Voll- or partial- kasko?
Do you have parkschaden?

Surely you can claim on that?

I did when someone took my wing mirror off!

Hey Mr T... how's Singapore?

No CCTV as it was in the back of beyond, and no one about. I didn't think to check the broken bits although most seemed to be mine, I was too busy gnashing my teeth and calling down hellfire and brimstone on the culprit. I haven't done the police report thingy either as I wasn't going to claim, so suppose I better drive to Affoltern a.A and report it to be safe... car liberally covered in bubble wrap tof course
Affoltern am Albis? I live roughly there (well used to rent a flat there, but now live in the next village). Where did this happen in Affoltern if I may ask?

Normally that will mean nothing to pay - not a single rappen - and also will not affect your no-claims-bonus.

Affoltern is the closest cop shop, the ding was out the back of Rifferswil.

Be careful, you may keep your no claims bonus it doesn't mean that the premium won't increase...

60% off a 1000 chf is not the same as 60% off a 1500 chf for example...

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart and the top of my wallet for your sterling work this morning. Managing, in a fairly empty car park, to drive into my car and smash the rear light and chip the paint on the bumper on my fairly new car was an astounding feat, only topped by your ability to scarper quick time without the decency to leave a sorry note and a contact number.

Your efforts for the Swiss economy and garage trade are duly noted as the nice chaps at Renault are trying to express order a new unit and it's only going to cost CHF 290 (they think + fitting), and some mechanic will be gainfully employed in changing the unit when it arrives. Further whilst waiting for the nice Renault chap to call to say they have the light unit, I'm stuck so cannot work, meaning I lose money, and of the 2 customers I was meant to see today, 1 will continue to gaze woefully at the huge pile of electric strings I was meant to trunk, and the other won't gaze at much of anything as they will have no lights.

In closing the score for today was Swissy 1 - Expats 3, and as the lowest score wins the game is yours. However, should you suffer an attack of remorse for your motoring incompetence, I'll happily send you my bank details, failing that... I hope your next shit is a porcupine
Enough money lost to justify some a bit more drastic steps.

Was it a public car park or a private one ? Any hint about the culprit ?

- You should gone to the police to place a "Anzeige gegen Unbekannt"
- You should have notified whomever is in charge of the car park
- You should contact your insurance-company. Some damages caused by somebody else are covered the Teil-Kasko

Ah well I would call them rather than driving there. I've tried going there a few times and the door was locked with no one around, which isn't at all worrying with there being a prison next door

Re: Dear SVP driver?

Sorry to hear about your accident PG. Hopefully your insurance will cover it and accept the claim. There is generally accepted culture in Switzetland that folks at fault will at least leave a note or contact harmed owner but it is unfortunate to be a victim of a bad apple.

I'm sick and tired of patching up all the scratches acummulated on my car's bumper over time with touchup paint. Recently I discovered minor indent on my front bumper which could well be made by trolley on casters by someone. I don't claim these minor moodspoilers but at times it becomes quite sickening to pick up imperfections on pieces worth few grants yo be replaced.

I know, I'm coming down from my Meldrew moment, but couldn't agree more Jacek. There was a classic rant of his on the subject but I can't find it.

Re: Dear SVP driver?

It sounds to me like a beer, darts and greasy food session at Pot Belly's is needed...

It won't get the car fixed but could be fun anyway.

Cheers,
Nick

Re: Dear SVP driver?

Maybe mods can change the thread title as SVP got nothing to do with it.

Grow up, stop moaning, get the car repaired and move on with your life! These things do happen and thats the reason you need a good insurance cover.

Perhaps the perp was a member of the St Vincent de-Paul society? Otherwise known as the SVP.

Probably best not to park your car anywhere in France or Spain then...

Would that not be SCVP Wolli?

I went to the rozzers and they weren't even slightly interested, but it's logged. The Casco thing on the insurance will take care of it though no deductable and no effect on NCB or future premiums... good old Zurich and a little divine intervention from our friendly neighbourhood insurance guy

Re: Dear SVP driver?

I stopped a driver that did just that in an underground car park in Geneva: she reversed into a car, smashed bumper + rear light and was about to drive off. I blocked her with my car and told her to leave her details to the car owner. She was all snotty about it "I'm in a hurry, it's not my fault, what is it to you anyway...", but when I told her I took a picture of her number plates (not true, but she didn't need to know that!) and that I was taking this straight to the police, she complied. I made sure she wrote her number plates on the note in case she gave a fake name/phone number.
