Re: Don't visit Spring Brothers Irish Pub in Old Town Geneva

So we have:
  1. OP is telling the truth and the fat barman really is a sleazy scumbag, or
  2. The OP was sacked for whatever reason and decided to exact her revenge on EF
Nothing anyone else posts here is really going to decide the matter either way.

Yeh well that's like stating the obvious. We know option 2 is possible but highly unlikely. I mean the witness statements from the regulars so far have not denised his behaviour but more like condoned it, so the likelyhood of such event having happened is very high. All we need to do is prove that the OP didn't like it which she says she didn't. I mean this is a clear case of sexual harrassement that should warrant a final warning if he hasn't had one before or a direct sacking.

I just decided to take a quick peek at the profiles of a couple of members viewing the thread whose names I did not recognize, and voilà!

If a toilet is out of service for a long time because the owner lives in Miami - makes me wonder about other management issues

Kinda make it less authentically Irish too. American owner and the Bar manager is apparently British.

Whats the issue here???

Sounds like someone has never worked in a bar or out of the perfect US of A before?

Which, by the way, is not so perfect.

Transatlantic sensitivities aside, I think one of the other main issues is there seems to be a rather lax attitude to management taking on staff with less than adequate legal status within Switzerland.

Sorry that you don't see an issue in what is clearly and unequivocally sexual harrassment in pretty much any first world country where women have even a smattering of rights.

Repeatedly touching a woman despite her request that you stop, threatening to fire her if she doesn't allow you to do so, and telling your employees that you'd f**k them is not ok.

Maybe I should post a link to this forum on the FB page so we can hear of supporting or negating stories from other barmaids...

Re: Don't visit Spring Brothers Irish Pub in Old Town Geneva

Here's the last thing I'm going to post on this thread:

I appreciate SimonHicken's professional response. We've been in contact and I am optimistic he'll follow through. What happens within a business is not my concern, I was completely appalled the way the barman treated me and I wanted to take it directly to his overhead but the managers there have made it impossible to contact anyone but the two of them.

It's pretty clear that the responses defending the barman are not real. First, because in my brief experience with the barman, he has a very twisted view of reality and is unable to take responsibility. My complaint was with him and how he treated me, and how he runs the bar (toilets, drains for the drinks not working properly, etc). NOT with the barmaids, not how the staff socializes. Neither of the two "female patrons" directly addressed this.

Also...
There are two barmen who work there: a fat one and a fit one. My complaint was with the fat one. The rest of the employees are barmaids. I only worked there one night, but the ones I met seemed fine.

As you've asked, yes, the chubbiness made it more repulsive, as he came up behind me and laid his blubbery chin on my shoulder. My skin was still crawling the next day.

I think that posting pictures of the people without their consent crosses the line. I realize this is a public, anonymous forum, and even if some people (fat barman) don't respect any personal boundaries, that doesn't give others an excuse.

That's all I have to say. The responses have actually renewed my faith in this country that even if employment laws aren't up to par, it seems the culture and ethical consensus of the people who posted in this thread are. Thanks.

Re: Don't visit Spring Brothers Irish Pub in Old Town Geneva

I have to agree with the OPs latest post. Posting a pic is a bit out of line on a guy who has not had the chance to defend himself or offer his side of the story.

Likewise, this story would never have come about, and the toilets would have had more action (if only it had been the "fit" one) showing an interest. Perhaps, I am just making an assumption on the "fit" quote.

Alas, the guy was deemed fat (if the pic is anything to go by he is on the tubby side), and not within OPs criteria, and thus, executed sick repulsive behaviour.
