There used to be a UK company (maybe still is) where you could order a greetings card to be sent you the recipient of your choice with the following message on the front;

Somebody Somewhere Thinks You're a C***

(without the asterisks, of course)

Felt tempted a couple of times, but I never sent one.

What's wrong with being a Celt?

This thread is for:
  1. People who have signed a contract without understanding it and have now discovered that they don't like what is in it. You want us to tell you how hard done by you are and how much sympathy you deserve.
  2. People who can't possibly understand that Swiss law may be different to the law in their home country. How can the Swiss be so primitive?
  3. People who have been told something they don't like by someone who is being paid to help them and want free advice convincing them that the advice they are getting is wrong.
  4. People who have broken the law and want to be told how they can weasel out of paying the fine.
If you meet any of the above criteria, please feel free to post here.....(at least that way we can keep them all in one place)
May I add a couple more categories, Snoopy?

5. People who want to live out in the sticks, then complain that they don't have 24/7 entertainment and services, that they have a long commute, and don't have all the conveniences of city life.

6. People who didn't do their homework, then find themselves in tough spots and proceed to complain that "this country is awful". We all make mistakes (sometimes even if we do our homework), and we are all entitled to think that any country is awful, but the attitude of blaming "everyone else but me" really gets me

Re: Collective thread for whiners et al.

I was speeding to my advisor's office because they keep telling me I can't move out of my apartment without giving 3 months notice. I'm English and the letting agency know I'm English, so why insert something about "3 Monate Kündigungsfrist" in my contract? I'm going to just move out and cancel my direct debit. But now I have tickets for speeding and going through a red light. Can I just change my name? How would I get a new refugee permit with my new name?

Re: Collective thread for whiners et al.

We haven't had such a thread for a while so we must be due one very soon but...

A major whinge-thread involving an EF-er's offspring who might have viewed someone else's underwear at a playground / might have been sniffed or slobbered by a passing dog / might have been in the background of someone's weekend snaps without giving express permission, etc., etc.

None of the above being wrong to complain about, if that's what gets your knickers in a twist, but the ensuing groaning/bad repping and acidic comments on anyone who dares to try to "put it in perspective" or express a view that doesn't mirror the rabid hysteria of the complainant ticks me off.

If the thread involves kids it always descends into a farcical argument of hysterical extremes.

Actually it was "shit" rather than c***. Plus the message was sent with a small box of something that looked and smelled like shit.

Re: Collective thread for whiners et al.

Zuerich bound whiners who think adjustment to stores closing at 8pm is tough...get over yourself, life is easy there.

Norms that are not really norms.

Accept the fact that when people feel like whining, they just will, even if your normative self disapproves

I could add a derivative to that:

People who want to live out in the sticks, then complain that they have to put up with noises and other "emissions" from farm animals.

Or

People who move in over a pizza delivery place/nightclub/restaurant and complain about noise/smells/younameit.

Re: Collective thread for whiners et al.

Am going to whine too (even as a newbie!)

I am unable to post in the events section...as yet. Have the post count, have the time but do not yet have the rep. I mean how long can it take to achieve a neutral rep for goodness sake?

grr. (and whine)

Maybe we can have a meet up. A whine and cheese as it were.
I can supply the cheese, so long as no-one wines about the fact that it's several years past the sell date!

There is a license plate frame for people who whine for no good reason:

..........It's all about me.
.............Deal with it.
