They generally do that here too.

Maybe down in the Italian part of dodge, but up in ZH, not once and I took my kid for ice cream almost every day during the summer months. After the first few times it happened I just figured it was SOP for guys to feel more manly or something.

Who said there was a space? Dudes just push past a 5yo with an ice cream with the idea that they didn't notice the short kid in front of me. If I had felt like it, I might have said something, but people like that don't change because someone called them out on being a rude asshole. I mean, really, who is in such a big hurry at a Coop pronto to cut the (short) line in front of a kid with an ice cream? In contrast, folks in a convenience store here will offer to let her go ahead of them before her ice cream melts and she beams. It's polite and, most importantly, it's nice.
Few people really push past a 5yo with an icecream or whatever to pay

As you apparently do not refer to open icecream but to packaged one, the way to go would have been to send your children to the area behind the cashiers desk and to do the procdure yourself alone

Is Swiss culture the rudest you have encountered?? If not, what is and why?
No, hell no, not even close.

Lived in China 8 years. Before you even think of rude, try one of the following in Shanghai: going to the cinema, getting on the metro at rushhour, or catching a cab in the rain.

I knew I had to leave when I was proud of my timely elbow to the pushing old lady's face skills.

Re: Is Swiss culture the rudest you have encountered?

This is a rather leading question and no doubt some people will be up in arms when they see that it is their nation who have been named as being the rudest culture. It is something of a provacative question too so without being too specific, we left that huge island in the southern hemisphere because we found the inhabitants lacking in finesse! Don't want to write more so will leave it up to everyone's imagination and generalisations are never very helpful.

Yes, sure. TierradelFuegonians can be rather rude chaps. I am glad you noticed also! It was an obvious guess, really, with their reputations.

(I first I thought Madagascarians, famously rude guys, but they are nothing compared to TierraDelFuegonians).

Do foreigners who join up one of the police services or those municipal quasi-police "Inspection de Police" agencies in the Romandie face this same sort of issues...

I didn't realize a German serving as a police officer in Kt. Schwyz would be the subject of abuse due where he comes from.

Strange...

I didn't realize that being over-fed or over-sexed could make someone rude.

Well, most people (including myself) do not agree with the idea of foreigners serving as police officers, in the military, or as government officials.

The Swiss are apparently not as rude as obnoxious name-dropping vegan businessmen...

I could see foreigners being bared from senior government positions or ones with a heightened national security risk...

But if Stadt Basel (for example) cannot find enough Swiss people to be Berufsfirefighters, I don't see any harm in a German living citizen becoming a Firefighter in BS...
