Re: Migros Klubschule Bill

1) NEVER ignore a bill in Switzerland. They will start a process called "Betreibung", that will require you to pay the money by law if you don't react. You will have a "Betreibungs"-Record which will not look good if you are looking for a flat for example. It gets ugly, so ...

2) ... I don't know if it is too late yet. But if something like this happens to me (I'm Swiss), I call the company IMMEDIATELY to tell them that there has been a misunderstanding. In 95% of the cases the situation can be resolved that way. Firstly because, all reputable companies will let you cancel if you call in fast ("Widerrufssrecht") and secondly you didn't cause them any work by sending you reminders. They don't know WHY you are not paying.

In this case: You have waited quite a bit, which might have pissed them off. Best call them, say that you never intended to book anything and it must have been a misunderstanding. Try to be nice.

If they get bitchy, just tell them calmly that they need to show proof that you booked the course and that you will not pay for it unless they do.

If they can, you will have to pay - rightfully in my opinion.
If not, you don't.

in the UK they would have to take you to the small claims court to get any money, which simply isnt worth it
I doubt they would follow up here either

If your wife signed up on-line, it's binding. I'd ask if you could get a raincheck to use at a later time.

true, but i class that as something different to a school enrolement. when i registered at my doctor there was note on the form about missed apointments etc.

which brings up another subject - under which law can a hairdresser etc claim for lost time if someone doesnt turn up, i suspect they cant really, but anything is possible here.

or if it is a contract for works:

Re: Migros Klubschule Bill

Not sure how this works for someone joining a new course in migros klubschule but from personal experience after i completed the first part of the A1 course i signed-up for the second part on a whim(this meant i did owe the course fees as i have effectively taken up a spot/seat in the course).. and later realised i could not attend most of the classes due to commitments at work.I ended up paying for the entire course .. in the terms and conditions it is mentioned the amount of money that is refundable depending on when you inform the school of a cancellation.. something like 3-4 weeks is 80 %(not sure please check)
