There are better men than you who find intelligent well-spoken women to be sexy. Feel free to continue dating wenches and slatterns.

Professor, me thinks you have been stuck in a lab for too long. This level of aggression is not healthy.

a) not professor
b) NB smiley and gratuitous use of 'large' words
c) recommend extensive protocol of 'getting some'. generic ok. at least once a day for three months.

My wife first attracted my attention by discoursing on the morphology of Middle Irish.

There's someone for everyone!

Why? What's wrong with 'notwithstanding'?

Within the said parameters of previous declamations, it was suggested that some gentlemen feel somewhat threatened, even asexualized, by women of an intellectual disposition.

Really....

Nothing. I like it. I like women who use the English language properly.

The other chap isn't "into her", but I would be if I wasn't married because she uses words like 'notwithstanding'.

This conversation is depressing.

A man, a word
A woman, a dictionary
Two women, a library
(roughly translated from a german saying)

Believe me, I prefer someone tells me he isn't that into me than having a guy telling me my breasts aren't big enough for his taste....

True story.

True story too

why not? dating is so much fun
Sure, the sex can be nice.

But for the most part, I've always equated it to one long, drawn-out mind f**k.

isn't that the most fun bit?

like when you date a girl that you are 99.99% sure is crazy, but you go ahead anyway because of that tiny chance she might turn out to be vaguely normal...

Bah... In my experience men that look nuts on a first impression never got any better during following dates... Run while you can, that's my motto

I wondered where I'd lost my little black book - you must have found it.

No offence meant, but I find this statement quite sad. I am always happy to be in touch with people from whom I can learn something. Nothing to be intimidated of, or insecure of from my point of view - we are all learning something everyday.

Now to dating - I dislike it now and always have, I find it a very time-consuming and energy-draining activity. I am more the type who enjoys going out for a drink (or a show, or an event, etc.) with a group of people, chat, get to know a variety of folks, hear stories, make friendships. Occasionally, there might be a "spark" with someone, and then you naturally want to spend more time together, but I don't push it, I look forward to chances of meeting again. There is no harm in also saying "let's go out for a meal together", worst you can hear is no. If it goes, it goes, if not, not.

I made a friend laugh the other day because I said I have a "zen" approach to dating. I like flirting, that I do, but not in a "in-your-face" kind of way.

I will close by saying that I am happy with a great man now, but I was a happy single beforehand. If they are "not into you", their bad, OP!

Lol.

This reminds me of a quote that I love from a film I once saw:

"As a species, we're fundamentally insane."
