Not to complain about drinks...

I've been at this one bar in town multiple times and generally get great service. However, I've ordered the same drink 3 times. Each time it has been completely different (size of glass, appearance, what's actually in it), except for the price. The first 2 times I thought it was strange but didn't want to make a fuss, but the third time when it came out in a shot glass (baileys and coffee should not!), I had had enough! Guess I just won't drink there anymore.

Re: Not to complain about drinks...

If it's something that they're not serving all the time, then barstaff might not know what it's supposed to be like and will make a best guess. Now that you happily accepted the shot glass, that person will think they guessed right

If they're not sure, they should probably clarify with you, but maybe you could be more descrptive too - maybe ask for "a cup of hot coffee with a shot of Bailey's poured in it, no ice, no lemon, no foliage, a biscuit on the side would be nice", rather than just a "coffee and Bailey's" for example.

Or just order a proper Irish Coffee, you cheapskate

baha, all too true. Alas, I ordered it because it's always posted on the specials board in big letters and assumed it was just a thing of the bar. Ah well

Next time ask for a black velvet, and see if you get it in a pint glass or a flute.

Or all over the bar, of they get it the wrong way round.

If he keeps asking for that drink all over the bar during the same evening, I believe after few drinks, the OP won't care much about the shape of the glass it comes in.

Re: Not to complain about drinks...

Never complain about drinks in Switzerland!

Pick the glass you want it in, or take your own glass, and tell the bar service exactly how you`d like your drink, tell them to write it down, so you don`t have to keep repeating it.

They will remember you forever afterwards!

I`m serious. A pernickety friend of mine also had a problem similar to yours. Her drink had Angostura Bitters in it, and they kept putting in something else, and charging different prices. So she took them a bottle of A/Bitters, chose the glass she wanted it served in....... and instructed them on the rest of the ingredients which they had.

Guess what? She was never even charged for her drinks after that!

Re: Not to complain about drinks...

I feel like Bailey's and coffee is a downright boring drink! It's for an afternoon in the middle of the week, really.

There are a number of members that view the forum in threaded mode, rather than linear mode which is the default. Merging quoted posts buggers threaded mode up. So, two consecutive quoted posts is ok, three is borderline, and above that action is considered, and probably taken.

Consecutive posts without quotes will be merged - should we find them.

only jesting

Sorry. Will remain serious in future and save the lectures for when the old man gets home

P.s I've had a shoeing before for only two consecutive posts both with quotes....just sayin'.
