Wonderfully Mannered Bus Driver

A few months ago, I was sitting on the bus coming up from Zurich to Kusnacht. At one of the stops, a young, black lady steps onto the bus. All of a sudden, an elderly white swiss couple sitting on the bus begins to assault the young lady with aggressive and racist remarks. She hadn't done anything and these treacherous people just begin to completely hammer her unnecessarily because of the colour of her skin! Everyone on the bus is shocked into silence! Then, the bus driver stops the bus, opens the doors and tells the couple to get off of his bus.
I thought this was one of the noble things I have ever seen from a bus driver, who usually drives off as I run for my life to try and catch the bus! Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Re: Wonderfully Mannered Bus Driver

No, but it's nice to hear about a good thing for a change. Well done, Mr. Bus Driver.

Mods, shouldn't we have a praise/appreciation part of the forum as well as a complaints one for things like this? I suppose it could be put in the transportation section, but a proper area where members can express their appreciation for goods deeds done would be nice.

Re: Wonderfully Mannered Bus Driver

In my experience, bus-drivers do know what "the right thing to do" is and try to act accordingly - when their schedule permits.
When I was on crutches, the Post-Bus drivers would routinely wait if they saw me hobbling along.
I assume, a bus-driver who was routinely late because he was waiting for people who were late and running for the bus would get reprimanded and then simply fired....

Re: Wonderfully Mannered Bus Driver

Kudos to the bus driver. We need more people like him.

But I wonder what will happen if the couple he threw off the bus complains to the bus company. Is it possible to follow up on that story, and find out?

Re: Wonderfully Mannered Bus Driver

the behavior of the elderly reminds me of something I saw today sprayed on the wall of a bakery at hottingenplatz which quite shocked me. I've seen many times things like swastikas sprayed on the same wall and today read the following (I don't really remember all the words but I do remember the last 5 ones). It went like this: "here is no human, here is a jewman"

Re: Wonderfully Mannered Bus Driver

No, it's never happened to me. That's because I'm not a bus driver.

Re: Wonderfully Mannered Bus Driver

Racism is against the law so I assume that the bus driver cannot get into too much trouble as he had a reason to do what he did and there were witnesses.
