Re: Car mechanic lost his mind?

Wait, your Lada was completely unusable for 10 days because the speakers were faulty? Are the brakes music-operated or something?

Ok, the reason I used that much fuel because I was without my car for 10 days!
if you dont describe the situation accurately, dont blame people for not following what you are getting at

Also, it was clear to me the problem was mechanical, not software
I have no idea what to make of that... you were wrong, and that somehow adds to your case??

Surely OP means as the dealer had the car for ten days to fix the speakers, he used the courtesy car a fair bit in that time. I believe they are equally as puzzled as most here as to why the dealership took ten days.

Well evidently wasnt wrong, as car had to go back to fix what OP had initially pointed out as the fault.

That's right. It was unusable. Parking sensors, navigation and radio all go through speakers. If your speakers go full power when you put the car into reverse, that makes the car undriveable. Parking sensors come on and the sound makes you jump out of the car.

Finally, we get some proper information.

Yes but his statement of the problem is that the head unit and speakers were the problem. And then there was a 10-day wait for parts.

Fair enough.

I would have been driving my own car around for 10 days. The wheels on the car go round and round, round and round, round and round......with or without working entertainment in the car.

In future, I'm giving IK36 at least 2½ hours to get the blinking details anywhere near complete.

I gave you Relevant info upfront. The issue is not the amount of gas used but that i was billed at all

Because it puts the situation into perspective. A garage keeping a car for 10 days because of dodgy entertainment speakers is a somewhat odd, to say the least.

I guess that my opinion is.....It depends.

In the States, I'd drop off my wife's beemer for service, even just an oil change, and get a loaner for the day gas included at no cost to me. This continued even after the car was out of warranty.

My Toyota truck was newer and still under warranty, but out of 3-4 visits to the dealer I think that there was only one time that a loaner was offered up, and I had to put gas in it.
And in Switzerland I drop of my car for a service, get a loaner car, and have to pay rental for the loaner car (but it included something like 200km free mileage)

Different countries, different garages, different service....
