Re: Fined, but the SBB machine did not accept my money!

In the SBB smartphone app, at least the iPhone version, one step before the red "buy" button one can change the purchaser name and/or add additional passengers' names.

i've seen lots of people being told off by the inspectors on the train when two tickets have been bought on one phone by a couple travelling together.
Well, this is strange and has never happened to us when travelling together...

AFAIK, the SBB App allows me to do the following:

1. Buy a ticket for the account holder (default)
2. Add passenger/s (account holder + companion/s; I show the tickets on my phone one at a time to the inspector)
3. Change passenger (I use this when only the wife travels; she logs into my account on her phone)

I can CONFIRM that I've done all 3 of the above several times on different routes with no problems...

Yes, but all those machines were a) retrofitted to reject rubles in the early 1990s, and b) completely retired from service within the past few years.

they got shouted at because they forgot to change name and bought two tickets with the same name.

it was obvious that they were travelling together, but i've seen this happen at least 3 times. each time there was a long rant by the sbb inspector. i'm not sure if he actually fined them in the end.

With the SBB iPhone App, it is possible to "change" the Passenger Name before you buy the ticket. I've already done this a lot of times, buying ticket for my wife while logged into my account.
Yep, and that would have been the course of action, had I not already purchased a still-valid 24hr ticket through my account earlier in the day.

The issue wasn't purchasing a ticket, it was accessing it to present to the inspector.
