Seller did not pay enough post fee

I bid a phone from Ricardo last week. It indicated that the sending fee was 1.5 SFr for A-post.

When picking it up from die Post, I found that I need to pay die Post 8 SFr because the seller only put a 1.5 SFr stamp to send a phone.

Yes, it is only 8 SFr.. I feel quite angry because it seems an intentional trick to fool buyers.

Re: Seller did not pay enough post fee

Whats the point of complaining here about being done for 8CHF just consider you paid that amount more for the phone.

Still a cheap buy most likely

Have you sent your message to the seller?

It could be that the seller was confused, either way the seller would prefer to keep you happy.

Let us know if you do not receive a positive response from the seller within 3 to 5 days.

Re: Seller did not pay enough post fee

I assume it was sent as a packet? Because it is strange that he managed to send it with only 1.50 francs as the post office would not have allowed it. Unless he told them that the receiver would pay the outstanding cost but didn't think that was legal...

It's very easy to do:
Write receivers name and address on the small "packet".
Do not write the senders name and address.
Stick a stamp on it
Drop it in a yellow post box

The post cannot know who sent it, they only know who receives it.
So they ask the receiver to pay for the for the extra postage.

In that case the seller has no receipt to prove they sent it.

Please complain first at the seller and Ricardo before posting.

Re: Seller did not pay enough post fee

Perhaps the OP simply wanted to vent - is that not part of the point of 'Complaints Corner'?

Something really annoyed you lately? Get it off your chest here. If you are easily offended, please look elsewhere.

Complaints about complaints in Complaints Corner have been a part of EF since pretty soon after it was founded.

Some things never change...

Get it off your chest at Ricardo. Give the seller a "Negative" rep there. Sellers rely on their "good reputation" for sales. You can actually write a message about what this seller did to you.
No-one wants to deposit money in bank accounts, and wait expectantly for their goods, to be charged MORE on delivery!

Yes, it can be very satisfying.

I`d like to whine about something too, but I just cannot justify starting a new thread about someone continuously using my hair-dryer AND hairspray AND hairbrush. So I just hid it all. I`m refusing to whine.

Re: Seller did not pay enough post fee

"Die Post" is actually doing something strange with their shipping costs.
A very light enveloppe (I believe up to 250 grams) may be up to 5 cm think.
A heavier enveloppe may only be 2 cm thick. In other words: a thin enveloppe may be up to 1kg, whereas a thick enveloppe may only be 250 grams...
If you drop off an enveloppe in the yellow mailbox, it may be that it was too thick and/or too heavy and then it is suddenly treated as a package (which will suddenly cost a lot more).

The only thing that I find surprising, is that I thought the sender would be charged (and not the receiver).

Surely the post has their reasoning, but as a sender you have to be carefull to always check the weight and the size

Nontheless, I understand that you feel **** - I would feel the same way, too!
