Re: Weather!

Grey and yuk yesterday. Frost overnight and now another wonderful, bright, sunny day with fab autumn colours. Off to the garden to dig dahlias up, plant lavenders against the wall, and general winter prep. DH will cut grass for last time before winter - will then put lots of scrunched up newspaper on top of compost bins to keep the wormies comfy, put lids firmly on and let them all get on with it until Spring time.

Re: Weather!

It's a glorious day here today too although yesterday was also lovely and sunny down here.
A definite gardening day I think. I need to put the fleece on the agapanthus and oleander before the frosts arrive.

Re: Weather!

After a foggy start, lovely and sunny here too. Had to fish out the winter woolies this morning.

Re: Weather!

Cloudy with a bit of rain first thing yesterday morning, but afternoon was lovely. Today dawned perfect autumn weather, bright sunshine, but a nip in the air. We're up to 7.7 outside.

Re: Weather!

I thought I'd get out of the Rhine Fog and into the mountain sunshine. It was a very cold day. Most of the first hour (I went to Walensee from Basel) was about 3.5C and foggy. But I was eventually rewarded with some amazing views in the mountains - and a balmy temperature of 12C!!

Yes, here too. Just had a run in the forest, it felt more like spring than autumn.

Re: Weather!

Whew! Not often I get woken up by rain pounding on the roof of the house, but did this morning at 3.35am. It was chucking it down, haven't had it rain like that for ages. Big lightning flashes too, but no big bangs, just some grumbles. Not good news for the workmen down our little road putting in - guess what - new drainage pipes. Just hope it stops raining so they can work today and hopefully finish it all off as they've been at it for a week now.

Murphy's Law must be in operation - there was a report on Swiss news the other night that we've been experiencing much less rainfall than normal.

The same thing happens if I wash the windows/car/hose down the terrace. Give it 2 hours and it chucks it down...

Please can you never wash the windows/car/hose down the terrace again? It's worth a try, right?

Yep same here. We don't have an attic space and the rain was just pummeling the roof. I had a peak out the window and the visibility was practically zero. Incredible.

We've got the attic space, but the neighbour's roof is right next to our bedroom window so when it pounds down like it did this morning it's audible. Only other time I can hear the rain is when I'm up in the bathroom - sloping roof with vulux window.

I heard nothing but I have it on good authority from hubby that we had a huge storm here during the night with thunder and lightening and torrential rain. There was plenty of evidence of rain this morning that's for sure.

It's still pretty cloudy now but the rain has stopped. There was some very low cloud over the Jura this morning.

Re: Weather!

Lots of rain but no storm up here - and thank goodness, as usual, we are above those clouds.

Re: Weather!

And yet another gorgeous bright sunny day in the NE Jura- with a whole week of inverted temperatures- with up here at nearly 1000m much warmer than by the lake (530m) - below stratus and fogs...

With the exception of Tuesday morning when it was pouring down after the storms during the night (and the low clouds settled on the Jura) it's been gloriously sunny and warm all week here.

It was beautiful yesterday and the colours of the trees with the sun on them along the lakeside was amazing.

Re: Weather!

Misty again here like it was yesterday, though we did get some nice sunshine late afternoon. Don't think we'll see any today, mist is too thick.

See the snow poles have been put up on the main road.
