Misty again here like it was yesterday, though we did get some nice sunshine late afternoon. Don't think we'll see any today, mist is too thick.

See the snow poles have been put up on the main road.
After a misty start this morning the sun has come through here so I wouldn't give up hope just yet.

No snow poles here yet but I did get my tyres changed on Thursday.

Re: Weather!

Brlliant sunshine since early morning - we had to drive down into fog at 9.30 yuk. All week temps have been several degrees higher at 1000m than be the lake at 530m. Monday got up to 20C here in the sun and was 14 by the lake below stratus. (using official records published in L'Express).

It was considerably warmer than 14° in Neuchâtel on Monday afternoon I can assure you and there wasn't a cloud in sight. I was in town wearing just a thin cotton shirt.

It's been sunny here since about 10.30 and it's currently 16° on the patio.

Re: Weather!

Further to the East today, colder it got. They should heat libraries more, do the German Swiss have thicker insulation layers or what. Brrrrrrrr.

It's to keep you awake!

After a dim gray start to the morning here - sunshine! How novel!

Photos from St Croix and Creux-du-Van show thick cloud/fog this morning in the plains, both near Neuchâtel and Yverdon/Lausanne.

I'm sure there was this morning as it was misty all the way up here, it isn't now though and hasn't been for some considerable time.

I'm not denying that there is often a difference in winter between down here and up and that there is more cloud cover down here but there hasn't been any this week with the exception of Tuesday when it was pouring down. No idea where l'Express get their info from but they clearly weren't in the same places as I was.

Re: Weather!

Sun finally came out here about quarter past two. I've got 11.4C on my weather station, but that doesn't get the full sun so might be a bit warmer.

We saved ourselves the tyre changing job - had the new Qashqai delivered with the new winter tyres already fitted.

Re: Weather!

Saturday was definitely a good day to be in the mountains. My husband and I went hiking above Visp, via Giw. Unfortunately we weren't aware that the Sesselbahn from Vispertermine (sp?) to Giw wasn't operating - it made for a much longer and harder hike

Re: Weather!

Flaming larch - gorgeous.

Another very bright day up here, quite breezy but a warm wind like Foehn. Been working in the garden all day and had to come in to cool down

Re: Weather!

It warmed up and it is so lovely and sunny. It is not just sunshine and fields, but living next a large body of water is amazing, gives the sunny smell yet another tone, odor. Sea..oceans. Still a little hazy but can't wait to take off the knee brace and go cycling soon.

I was as well but on the north side of the house so not too hot. I am trying to get all my evergreen shrubs planted before winter. Looks like I will have a few nice days this week and hopefully finish up.

Re: Weather!

It was an absolutely fabulous day today without even a hint of mist. I managed to get all the garden tidied up ready for winter.

The thermometer on the patio was reading 17.5°c at two o clock but with the breeze it was lovely.

Re: Weather!

A bit grey and dull yesterday- under cloud for the first time in ages.

Today back to the Jura brilliance and full sun. Massive opportunites for photos of the Alps across the 'mer de brouillard' or the 'sea of fog that covers all the plains below. As we say in French 'plus c'est haut, plus c'est beau' (the higher the nicer...) from October to end of April.

From Chasseral above Bienne, Chaumont above Neuchâtel, Les Rasses/Mauborget or Creux-du-Van above Yverdon/Lausanne...

None here either, it's been brilliant sunshine since first thing this morning.
It was the same yesterday too.

Monday was grey all day and Tuesday was misty first thing but cleared by about 10.30 am and was beautiful thereafter.

Sadly rain is forecast for the weekend.

Re: Weather!

Believe it or not, but we have a sunny day in ZH, too. Ok, this is not so unusual but the fact that there was no fog in the morning is for sure something special.
I could get used to this

Re: Weather!

Another absolutely gorgeous morning but a bit a bit chilly. Perfect autumnal sunny day.

Snow is coming next week.
