Re: Weather!

Still blue sky here of course.

I knew my time would come in the end.

Did you go Carlasmom?

We left the sun to go and shop in Pontarlier where it was foggy, and by the time we got back it was all grey here too
We went and it was beautiful! Not easy to get five adults and five kids moving at a reasonable hour but so worth it! We arrived at 10:30 - sunny with a few clouds here - and there and left at 1:30 just as the darker clouds started rolling in.

Re: Weather!

Enjoy Longbyt

Carlasmom, so glad you got there when the sun was still out. Have you ever been swimming there in Summer? As it is a peat bog, it makes your skin so soft. Great for kayaking or windsurfing too - or just for a lovely picnic.

The restaurant 'L'auberge des Taillères' just above is great for fish - totally different from all the moutain inns that specialise in cheese, etc. The owner is as mad as a hatter, from Montpellier- he speaks English as he worked in Yorshire and the QE2.

Re: Weather!

Wall to wall blue sky and sunshine all day today. It was still 10° when I drove our friends home just now.

Re: Weather!

Great news. Météo is full sun again until New Year at least up here, and visitors arriving tomorrow from London- so happy for them.

Re: Weather!

We've had six consecutive days of sunshine here in the Valais. It was 10°C today! Sipping a glass of chilled white wine on a terrace whilst soaking up the sun's rays, is my idea of heaven! The cherry on the cake? - not a single, solitary, snowflake of snow in sight, at least at 1,600 metres. Oh happy days - may this glorious weather last until Easter!!!

Re: Weather!

Tentatively, models predicts a cold snap and moderate snowfall starting new year's first week

U mad? Think about skiing industry, not to mention potential water shortage...

Re: Weather!

Fabulous day at CReux-du-Van with all the Alps out for our visitors- followed by Vin chaud at Le Chasseron with apple tart - wahooo.

The whole week will probably be just as wonderful.

Re: Weather!

No sign of any snow here but there was a lot of very pretty white frost this morning.
Another gloriously sunny day here.

Fabulous day at CReux-du-Van .
Best make the most if it before they start restricting access.

Re: Weather!

Fabulous at Lac des Taillères- never ever seen so many cars there. The Eastern end was quite busy, near skate hire and 'vin chaud' etc, stalls, but tons of space as soon as you went a bit further West. Left our guests there to enjoy the afternoon.

Re: Weather!

Looking at Google Earth it appears that there is very little cloud cover over Europe and also elsewhere in the northern hemisphere.

That's because it's all sitting on the ground here. Back to dull and foggy again.

Re: Weather!

Yesterday we left the brilliant sunshine to dive into fog into Yverdon- yuk oh yuk- but our visitors loved the spa and hot pools- Couldn't wait to go back up the mountain though where the sun was waiting for us.

Today was absolutely superb - walked the Gorges de la Poetta Raisse and went to the big water fall- all iced up and hoar frost everywhere- with the sun waiting for us as we got out. Still sunny and great now...

Creux du Van the day before yesterday was magical, with all the Alps waiting there over the sea of fog, broken up here and there- and the view from the top of Chasseron- with the Alps in the South and all the Jura peaks and Valleys in the North was just ... wow.
