All kinds of weather hereabouts today and between here and there.......from stormy gusts of wind to rain, to snowing lightly or heavily (pick your choice), torn up clouds and blue sky all at the same time! Is it April already?
I was just saying the same thing to hubby. We've had sleet, snow and hail, along with some sunshine. At one point it was snowing upwards.

Re: Weather!

Wind and snow. Left at 10 to go to La Chaux-de-Fonds to see a relative in hospital- but huge drifts forming on roads and ice under snow- turned round and gave up.

Yup, same here. First fog, then rain, then we had sunshine and now it is snowing. Wait, the snow just stopped. Sunshine again.

Re: Weather!

You're obviously all living in the wrong places then. Keep having a few snowflakes fall here, but not much, no wind now although no sunshine either. Cloudy, but I have 3.1C on my outdoor temperature gauge. Maybe Misery isn't such a misery after all. Much better than I was expecting it to be looking at the weather forecast yesterday.

Very similar here.
It was (allegedly) very windy during the night but I was asleep so didn't notice and there's no wind now. We have intermittent snow flurries and sunshine now and it says that it's 2.1° outside.

Re: Weather!

Started snowing again while we were out shopping and looks like it might continue through the night. Will have a look later, but can't be bothered to open a shutter to check at the moment.

At least it seemed to be making drivers extra cautious. From Faoug right through to Murten no one was going faster than 40kph. Add to that the traffic queue outside Murten because nearly everyone is going to the light show and it was great fun.

Yes, it did stop around 7.15pm so didn't last long in the end.

Re: Weather!

Is anybody on the freeway tonight around the lake from Geneva all the way round to Montreux? It has been snowing and extremely windy all day at our chalet in Chatel. Mr. Big has just landed at the airport and is about to set off on what would normally take about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

I have a bad feeling this may be an epic journey for him. I've already given up on dinner. Just hope he makes it before breakfast!

Re: Weather!

He was only about 30 minutes late. The worst bit was driving up from Troistorrents to Morgins and then down to Chatel. We have been hoping for snow this year to get all of the lifts and slopes open, but this is more than enough, thanks!

I just measured and we are at 42 centimeters and it is still blizzarding. The radar says we may have a clearing for a few hours this afternoon before it starts up again tonight.

Re: Weather!

pheewwwww,

I AM exhausted, up at 2.30am had to drive Daughter #3 to work as she couldn't get through the snow and drive on it with her motor scooter..... but it looks sooo lovely here, over all we got somewhere between 15 to 20 cm and it was lovely to walk Lizzie in it. (and for me a good muscle work out too, to walk like a stork )

Sadly as I type this, there is more rainy wet stuff coming down from the skies than flakes, so it may not last that long.

Stay safe you all, whether driving on the road or walking through snow!

Here in Zurich we had a snowfall today. I hate this season because I live on a hill, but this is lovely.

Re: Weather!

Poor Swiss ski resorts, they just can't win. First they have no snow, now they have too much!

"Saturday's race at the Lauberhorn course in Wengen, Switzerland, was dropped after more than 40cm (16in) of snow fell overnight.

Crews worked through the night but were unable to prepare the piste in time.

After a dry start to the ski season in December, resorts are now dealing with heavy flurries as a cold snap grips Europe.

The Lauberhorn course is the longest downhill run in the world, and racers can reach speeds of 160km per hour (100 miles per hour).

The heavy snow was accompanied by powerful winds, complicating preparations, and eventually forcing organisers to admit the race could not be held safely."

Re: Weather!

Perhaps not the best day to drive all round the Neuch Canton via the mountains- but needs must, doggies to deliver and poorly brother to visit- return via Switzerland's Siberia was stunning, with pink skies and the most beautiful snow scenes- and we got back just before dark- pheeew. Thank goodness for a Disco 4x4 and excellent snow tyres.

All the xcountry snow tracks are opened and it all looked magical. Driving to UK on Monday will be a doddle

Been snowing gently here since about 4pm. Have a light new covering of snow on top of the old stuff.
