Re: Weather!

It's lovely.
The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, the spring flowers are blooming and the trees are getting new leaves. Spring is here and it's my favourite time of year.

I hate the transition periods...Full of flu and undecided weather :/ But I love the spring lightning storms

Re: Weather!

This is torture: the first spring with my new garden plot and I just came home from surgery on my right hand Six weeks until I can shove my hands deep into the spring soil! And the forecast for the rest of the week is sunny and 16+

Re: Weather!

Ouch I really feel for you- nearly a year ago that I had my knee replacement and couldn't do a thing in the garden for months. Catching up this year on the early weeding and pruning in the gorgeous sunshine. Could you get a friend to work with you on the allotment this Spring? Hope you get better soon.

Re: Weather!

Months! That sounds like torture. The way I look at it is that this keeps me from pulling out potentially interesting plants, and from planting my seedlings too early

And I have a somewhat-willing husband and a very willing (but with no knowledge) friend. Still, they are good at moving stones around and raking out the soil

Re: Weather!

Wow, that looks very tidy. I have a lot to do in the garden, getting veg patches ready etc, but I have got a touch of bronchitis & I don't think phlegm balls are good for the soil. Certainly is lovely oit there at the moment. Rain due Saturday.

Re: Weather!

Torture it was

Wow, they've done a good job. Why not wait until end of April and plant plantlets rather than seeds for the first year- apart from simple things like Swiss chard and spinach? Bonne chance.

Nothing to stop you barking instructions at those 2 though (ah bless them).

You did a great job (and probably know much more than you're given credit for!)

That's sort of what I am doing
I have the seedlings in containers on my kitchen table - they can sit there until I am up for actual garden insertion. And I am guessing that my hired help (tm) could lend a hand - literally!

Re: Weather!

Must say I've given up on seeds generally- apart from spinach, swiss chard and parsnips. I go over to our local French market in Pontarlier (Thursday and Saturday am) and buy trays of seedlings that are nice and strong.

Gorgeous day again- but no gardening. Ye Olde Boy's 71st BD so off for a nice walk with dogs and lunch at the gorgeous Lac St Point

It's a start but the broom actually functions better if you hold it the other way up.

This is what I would normally do, but Mr DantesDame really enjoys watching the seeds sprout and the emergence of of the cotyledons. Anything to keep his interest, right?

The seeds that don't sprout will be sourced from the local markets, which I find just as satisfying.

Re: Weather!

ahaha at least he tries- I don't think my OH even knows where the veggie patch is which is why when I was out of action last year- nothing got done, be it weeding or growing, pruning, etc. TBH best that way, as he would leave the weeds and pull out my prize plants each to their own talents and domain - he can't or won't decorate either - so pretty useless in retirement

Must say, as old age creeps in and with far too much land for my own good- I am changing my outlook slowly - our garden is a curate's garden (not surprising for an old Vicarage) - with mainly perenials- and 2 of the veggie plots have been turned to raspberries- they are so delicious, so easy to care for and prune- and away from visiting foxes. Just pulled all the strawberry plants- just too much like hard work + worry about foxes, slugs, etc.

Re: Weather!

German TV said it will be 9 to 20°C today. Now, that's what I call being on the safe side!
They probably sat in their office and one asked "how will we predict the weather today?" The other one said "Wir schaffen das!" and I'm sure they did ...
