Excuse me, why am I returning from Edinburgh to Scottish weather in Geneva? This is not what I signed up to! Time to get the Haggis out of the freezer, it's winter comfort food time again!

It's a balmy 14 degrees in Edinburgh today!! My sister came to visit me a couple of weeks ago, we sat in the sun. She had to take her vest off!!

Yeah, when I went to visit our son there, he said: "Dad, you needn't take much in your suitcase and you don't need a jumper, we've had a nice little heat wave for two weeks...the temperatures even went up to 14C!"
I packed two jumpers, my scarf and bitterly regretted forgetting my gloves! | The following 2 users would like to thank McTAVGE for this useful post:

I don't know what it is about Edinburgh. My niece lives near there and last time I visited, my great niece happily ran around barefoot in a flimsy dress while I wore thick jeans and a fleece (or two).

I see people walking around in shorts and flimsy tops while I'm still wearing winter socks, top, trousers and coat. |

Our weather
I like to sit underneath the skylights, seeing the rain drops hit the glass and drink a hot tea, working on my rainbow blanket whilst the wind wooshes through the crevices in the walls and causes a draught |

In Summer, UK primary schools girls mostly wear thin cotton short-sleeve summer dresses and little ankle socks.. and after Easter, no matter the snowstorms, the thick frosts or the howling northerly east winds, the girls all have their summer dresses on.
I look and shiver, disappearing even further into my thick hooded arctic-like fleece which I wear under my coat.
That was me today | The following 3 users would like to thank for this useful post:

With my foreign students when I had my language school - the trip to town on a Friday night, from the safety of my car- was a must - to see what the girls were (NOT) wearing on a cold night out ... lol.

Drove down to Neuchâtel on Wednesday and was surprised to be dropping into fog! Then back in a snow blizzard late evening, could hardly see the road. Last night it was snowing when we went to bed- woke up to almost a foot of snow. Sun came up late morning and it was a pleasant, bright day - snow all gone apart from top of mountains
Glad the countryside and farmers got some water at last- nice and sunny tonight, 4C. Should be lovely and sunny tomorrow- and then rain forecast next week. The Germans call this 'Aprilwetter' for a reason.
In French the proverb says 'en avril, n'ôte pas un fil, en mai, fait ce qu'il te plaît' (in april do not take a single thread off, in mai, do as you please).

Yep, same here- woke up to great bright sunshine and all the snow gone ...
but there is a little breeze and I wouldn't say it is warm, as such. All plants have survived- apart from a few branches on the old lilac, which we intended to prune hard after flowing anyhow. Pheew.
Plenty more rain to come it seems next week. Not keen- but then the farmers really really need it- so.

Today was a perfect spring day in Basel: warm weather and steady, gentle rain. This should be good for the recently planted!

And suddenly it's summer! Mostly lovely day today, had a short sharp rain shower early afternoon, but outside temp has hit 20C+ with all the sunshine otherwise.

They were predicting heavy rains, we were bracing ourselves for bunkering inside but the weekend was lovely! Boat trip, l'escalade and beach times, sunny and warm. The best!

There was a bit of rain at Yverdon-les-Bains yesterday morning when we were there, but we didn't get anything here. Was able to take my big box of cardboard down to the recycling. Couldn't do it weekend before because it was raining.
