Re: Weather!

My sisters are visiting from the UK this weekend, so ideal holiday weather. We are planning a sail to Rapperswil one day, which should be great in this heat.
Meanwhile, I am ironing.

Re: Weather!

Mowed the overgrown lawn this morning before the temp got too unbearable, but took a towel out with me to wipe my face as any activity and I'm sweating like a pig (ask a scientist question: do pigs actually sweat?).

Re: Weather!

Sitting in the oven that was the doctor's waiting room, along with a few other sweltering souls. Two windows were open, not helping but at least giving the illusion of the possibility of air circulation, so as not to add heat exhaustion to whatever ailments the patients were there for.

In walks a woman whose eyes immediately train on the windows.

"Mein Gott, es zieht!"

She promptly closes both windows... and then puts on a heavy coat.

Try as hard as I do to understand and integrate, this fear of moving air will forever remain a mystery to me.

I've been here nearly 30 years... This is one of the few things that I still haven't managed to find some way of making sense of, or tolerating.

You'd think the two main causes of death were ice in drinks and drafts.

Yes, you are right.
Even I debated whether to sling a scarf around my neck this morning.

Of course I didn't.
Hope that I don't get sick.

No, no, no, ice and drinks are fine.
In fact after getting ill from a draft, one needs a hot whiskey...... ah, this could explain it all

Perhaps in Winterthur. Here in Zurich I've had a couple of people explain to me that North America is as degenerate as it is purely because of iced drinks and square bread.
