Feck*** hell! Will someone up there turn the radiator off! If this weather continues, I'll have to put ice in my Whisky...and this would be tragic!
Careful with that ice stuff. You know what it did to the Titanic.

It's not good for the courgettes either. You'll be getting mildew up your kilt.

Was the association of courgettes to what you may find under a kilt purely subliminal?

RAIN! At last! Time to go and dance naked in the garden! Wait, I have no garden!

Never mind, it's warm rain anyway.

Re: Weather!

And it's raining. Swept in at 6.50am this morning and hasn't really stopped since. Nice to be comfortable again and not having to wipe the sweat from my face and neck every time I move a bit.

Re: Weather!

Huge thunderstorms with very strong winds at around 6am this morning. Half my terrace went flying, and my poor strawberries didn't survive

Re: Weather!

Well, we wanted it- we got it. After thunder, strong wind and downpour, it has all calmed down now, raining gently. But truly, nature and wildlife really needed it, so I don't mind.

And I want to go hunting those mushrooms and wild raspberries, and they needed a good watering... as long as Summer comes back tomorrow - I don't mind.

Re: Weather!

Much anticipated and finally here.....rain glorious rain. Tho' I wouzldn't have mind a few more dry days to finish my foraging trips.

Sloes are collected now and in the freezer,Haws adn rosehips and elderberries next.

Although, I fear the heavy downpour we have atm is knocking the remaining elderberries off grumble.....when it is a s dry as it was recently, elder is known to lose the berries very early.

Rain I love you, but you really came about one day too early for my liking

It's lovely. I can almost hear the garden breathing a sigh of relief.

Wall to wall sunshine and hot weather are only nice for so long.

Re: Weather!

Yesterday late afternoon, one local farmer decided to spread some really stinky muck on his field. Now the rain has cleaned the air, and I can open the windows again, - one of the few disadvantages to living near the countryside.

Re: Weather!

I'm going to put on my wee cotton socks to go out later.

Sadly, had to cancel a trip to the Fetes de Genève this evening, no fun standing in the rain. Spending silly money. We were going to take our own wine, but that is frowned upon. Who spends ten francs on a beer, when you can get it for 50 cents in Denner?!!

I think everyone will sleep better tonight too. The amount of dogs barking, babies crying and people arguing over the past few weeks has been horrible.

I gave my fan a holiday too!! Poor thing has been working overtime.

Re: Weather!

Dying in the heat again at the moment, but hopefully relief is on the way. 28C tomorrow, 27 C Wednesday (though warning out for moderate heat stress of 30 to 33C!) then rain and much cooler on Thursday. By Saturday-Monday overnight temps are supposed to be down into single figures (9-8C)! Will find out how well the new central heating boiler works since it's completely automatic and works on what the temps are inside and out.

9C = absolutely lovely. Open all the windows and enjoy snuggling under a duvet, and having a hot shower without feeling sweaty afterwards :-)

If only it would stop these stupid little rain showers that just make it more humid but not cooler.

Re: Weather!

Don't think I've changed covers so often as I have this year. First it's a light duvet for a few days, then when too hot for that a blanket, then when to hot for that just a sheet, then often back to the duvet or blanket again. At the moment I'm at the just a sheet point, but sounds like the duvet will be back on again by the weekend.

Think this is the last hot, hot blast of summer. Hopefully we'll get a nice Indian summer again like we've had the last two autumns.
