What storm? It was a bit windy here at about 4am, but that's it.
It was the longest thunderstorm ever... Lasted for more than 2 hours, with truly impressive thunders.

The vet prescribed Xanax for our dog for such occasions, but by that point I was ready to swallow it myself!

Hot weather + strong wind + mountains looking so close you can touch them?

That'll be the Foehn, a hot, dry wind that sweeps down from the mountains and can raise the temperature by 20 degrees in an hour. Many Swiss people claim the Foehn is responsible for headaches, roadrage and all kinds of other ills. It was certainly instrumental in the destruction of most of Glarus town by fire 150 years ago.

Since Brits are clearly immune to its ill effects, we might as well enjoy it!

Re: Weather!

When I left the flat this morning, in bright but chilly sunshine, the Alps looked like they were painted onto the sky, like a cinema backdrop. Absolutely stunning.

Then I went over the hill into Zürich, and admired the old town buildings rising up and fading into the autumnal mist.

(I haven't got a leaving date yet, but I'm already getting maudlin. Could be a looooong couple of months ahead )

Zurich lake looks stunning.
It does indeed! I love the many beautiful colours it appears in and my top fav is the brilliant blue when the sky is also glowing azure <3
It looks Onyx-ish and exciting during storms, and it looks milky and pearly in twilight (I have a twilight obsession... and I'm talking about the sunlight scattering atmospheric illumination meaning of the word; not the crap films )
Juicy, brilliant, sparkling blue is unbeatable though (y)

We never got that one either luckily as we were flying the next day and needed a good night's sleep. We don't actually get very many of the storms so it's a rare treat if we do.

Probably best you don't look at the forecast for Wednesday then.
Suffice it to say I'd recommend getting your thermals ready.

Re: Weather!

Good job I love contrasts ... 22C today and tomorrow- and minus 2 on Wednesday + snow. Bring it on

I an so enjoying this Indian Summer- but I am really looking forward to a PROPER COLD AND SNOWY WINTER. If I'd wanted grey slush and damp but not so cold **** I'd stayed in the UK

Re: Weather!

Quite foggy here this morning, but it's turned into a lovely autumn day. Looks like the central heating may go on later in the week though. Still, can't complain, it's been a great Indian summer. May be just as well we're getting a new winter set of tyres put on a couple of weeks earlier than normal, we may need them.

Whoever they are, they're doing pretty damn good job out there in the sky. Someone should extend their contract for next season
