Re: Weather!

17cm of snow and Geneva is in chaos. The buses shut down and the city is paralyzed.

As an American from the Great Lakes and grew up with heavy snowfalls, I feel that I can rightfully call many people here candy asses. Except for those skiing in city streets.

At least the stores were not raided for milk and bread.

Re: Weather!

The sun is out, only tiny bits of snow left fighting the melt down, +6°C.
I knew it, the moment I stop fretting about it, it will go away. Works like a charm every time
(To keep forgetting about this is the difference between becoming old and becoming wise).

If this was the end of it and all the flowers start blooming tomorrow, you can all send me green pebbles

Re: Weather!

Gorgeous, bright, sunny day on top of the Jura mountains- with a thick sea of fog below. A friend coming back from UK had massive dealys with EasyJet yesterday- flight was sent to Lyon instead of GVA after 7 hours on tarmac in UK - then bus to GVA and then drive home

I felt the same about the snafus in Bern this week. However a colleague pointed out that the U.S. public transportation system, particularly in the west and midwest, is not nearly as complex or widely used as it is here. Keeping the tram tracks clear is more of a task than simply plowing roads for cars and buses. Also since folks here freak out over a 3-minute delay it's more noticeable - whereas lengthy delays in the U.S. are mostly par for the course.

Re: Weather!

Now raining quite heavily here in Geneva. So hopefully that's an end to that unpleasantness. Thankfully, the frost did finally do for the geraniums that were unbelievably still flowering up to that point. It's a relief, I've been loathe to chuck 'em out, being a waste-not-want-not sort. Now I can bin them with an easy conscience.

Just watching the news on the BBC.

Cadbury's and Jaguar have closed down due to water shortages caused by burst pipes.

Wow, the apocalypse is near.

Flake and Dairy Milk are favourites.

The English Bookstore here in Zürich used to have them.
Creme Eggs when I was young(er).

Re: Weather!

Snow's nearly gone and neighbour's spring bulbs are beginning to show through. Spring is on the way.

Edit: And it's raining.

Re: Weather!

Haha! I just moved from Switzerland to UK. It seems to me the weather here is a lot more merciful in the winter and fall because there is a lot less rain.
