Not according to the Brits as you should know better. They always "travel to Europe" when they enter the ferry
I think they are more likely to say " going to the continent", as in continental Europe.

I've heard my grandparents' generation refer to it as "travelling to the continent".

Although, at a pinch you do hear students on a gap year say they will be "travelling around Europe".

Snowing now

Still not as bad as UK, just heard from a friend who has given up on driving and staying in a motel tonight.

Re: Weather!

I've been chatting with my sister-in-law in Prestbury throughout the day. They made a dash to the shops at lunch, were home by 1.30 and they were snowed in by 4pm.

I want to go out for walks though- physio said I can ditch the crutches and just use my nordic sticks.

Re: Weather!

We've got a covering of snow today, much colder too, about 2 degrees.

Re: Weather!

It's like an old LP: Everytime you think you get to the good part, the needle jumps back a few lines.

I was not very sympathetic when a friend told me last night, there had been lots of snow in Frankfurt during the day, which melted in the evening though. But: Gott straft sofort (God punishes immediately), two hours later I thought something was weired outside. Everything was - and still is now - deeply covered in snow.

Just been speaking to a neighbour returning from his usual skiing weekend, and it appears that there's only low level ZH that hasn't got snow...yet. I can see plenty on Felsenegg but nothing lower than that.

I'm only 63 meters higher than Zurich. Can I brag I live in the mountains?

You can brag about whatever you like Curley.
Just got a few flurries here, but it's kind you can only see if you look at the street lights. Going to warm myself up with the new episode of The Durrells, and dream of Greece.

Re: Weather!

I came out of the Hallenstadion last night after watching Zug get derailed big time and it was coming down thick and white as a Britain First meeting.

Re: Weather!

Snowing lightly here in Basel this morning!

I'm just glad that it is still early spring, and not so many plants and buds have come up yet. And as it has been said: this is keeping me from getting into the garden too much, too early!

Re: Weather!

The weather forecast was completely off the last wknd. I feel we exhausted our luck, though, and even we will get snowed under?

I was looking forward to sporting this snazzy trenchcoat, grrrrr. Go away, winter, I need new ski boots (that do not weigh 100kilos like my old ones) and have no time to check out the sales. I have a feeling it is after the sales, anyways.
