Re: Weather!

I expected it to be gone by this morning but snow is not budging an inch here.
Forecast says sunny week but snow again next Monday?!
It's a real strain on the nerves this year.

In Basel we have sunnier weather than Zurich or Geneva

Then come and visit and see for yourself, matey: all windows are open, sunshine everywhere and people enjoying drinks outside, albeit wearing "une petite laine" as they say round here.

Re: Weather!

Une petite laine is good for all weathers. Especially handmade.

So...amphibian.

It's a bit of April madness we are having at the mo.

Re: Weather!

Petite laine indeed. It was quite bright this am, but afternoon greyish and now cold.

Language is funny - huge snow flakes like the other day are called 'pattes de mars' (march paws) in French - and Aprilwetter in German!

And a French proverb, for next month: En avril, n'ôte pas un fils' (in April, do not take a stitch off).

No, huge snow flakes are not called Aprilwetter in German. LOL. They're called riesige Schneeflocken.

However "Aprilwetter" means the weather changes several times even during one single day AND it's no surprise if one day you sit out in the the sun and the next there is snow.
Which is why someone mentioned we have it now (hope it won't last until end of April).

It's officially spring (equinox was yesterday) and it's snowing.

That's the trouble with those fixed dates. Birthdays are all wrong too

I tell you, I feel like publicly use every curse-word I know to express my opinion on this subject. And I know loads of them, plus in all kinds of languages!

Good for the world that the software here doesn't allow this

Got up this morning to see we'd had another light dusting of snow overnight as well.

It's officially Spring in Geneva, as officially declared when the first bud opens on the oldest chestnut tree in the old town. Pity the wacko "MCG" political party ad pops up at the same time, their ideology is more like dark winter!

So which is the best online weather forecast for Zürich. They all give differing forecasts! What a disaster.

Re: Weather!

Well it started very bright today- I threw handfuls of sunflower seeds on the grass (this here will never ever be a 'lawn') - as well as fill the feeders- and had 100s of birds all day - bramblings, chaffinches, bullfinches, several kind of tits, robbins, a few nuthatches, and our multitude of resident sparrows. A joy.

For the past hour, it has been snwoing like crazy- huge, massive, soggy snowflakes- birds are still feeding like crazy- so they must know something.

Yep. lots of snow arrived about 4ish- all white now again.
