I was in bed last night listening to the rain pour steady and heavy out there. I shouldn't have to water for a couple of days at least, even longer if the forecasted thunderstorms for this afternoon roll through! |

Just back from a stroll around the garden:
The hail did major damage; the chilis, zucchini, salads, have been shredded. Looks like they are gone.
The pear tree, which was chock full of young pears starting out, is now stripped. Not a single fruit left.
Strawberries took a beating, all the ripening fruit is gone. But some of the plants are ever-bearing so there's still hope for a jar of jam.
At least half the blueberries are lost.
Geraniums lost all the blooms and many leaves, but the stems look OK so the will likely recover... eventually.
The herbs are battered but they are hardy so will spring back.
Tomatoes are fine, as they are under cover.
Given that hailstorms are not uncommon here maybe I need to start growing everything under cover.
Gardening in these parts will break your heart...

Sorry for your loss, meloncollie.
Still many more airplanes than usual here in the morning - airport still had problems?

It got quite dark at around 4.30pm and there were a couple of flashes of lightening in the distance and then it brightened up again and the sun came out.

I check out the weather forecast and it is steadily always the contrary. Has been past 2 months, every single day.
Is the hydrometeorology dept drinking or closed? Whaddup? Do I have to keep dragging with me the all weather gear for my long days?

To have this progressing this far into the season only to have it destroyed or damaged is difficult. At least last year's "late freeze" was still early enough to miss the major spring planting. But here, almost to June? Crazy.

Constant rumbling, coming closer. Still dry and warm here.
Still, after all your horror-stories, I decided to roll my flower pots to a sheltered place.

Yep, better safe than sorry. Trying to rain here, but no grumbles - yet.
We've got a yellow alert for rain, possible hail and violent wind gusts. Didn't open the bathroom window today so at least that floor won't be getting wet.

Less than 10 minutes after I posted, loud grumblings and heavy rain. Lasted about 10 minutes and it's all cleared off for now. |

The air pressure feels even more unbearable than yesterday.
