This is how you present your excuses at home? Wonder which weather your hubby prefers.

What can I say? Yesterday was absolutely perfect. Dropping to 23°C sometime in the evening was a bit nasty, I thought.

The Climate of Switzerland
Switzerland's climate is heavily influenced by the Alps as well as by the Atlantic Ocean. Winters in the northern plateau are mild and damp, whereas higher altitudes experience arctic temperatures. At altitudes above 1200-1500 metres or so, precipitation in the winter falls mainly as snow. The south side of the Alps is strongly affected by the Mediterranean Sea, and so winters there are mild and the summers warm and humid, and sometimes hot. All along the Alpine ridge there are frequent thunderstorms in the summer.
The above from the MeteoSwiss site.

Pretty accurate I'd say.

Not sure what you were expecting when you moved here?

Monsoon rains of India, cool, wet summers of Wales; Siberian summers; herds of Widebeest; the hanging gardens of Babylon?

Personally I love the climate here. Beautifully warm summers and lovely crisp winters.

Re: Weather!

Warm, I don't mind. 30+C day after day . Not nice. We haven't had any rain for weeks now and the hottest part of the summer is still to come. At this rate there'll be no 1st August celebrations because everything's already as dry as tinder and likely to go up at the least little spark.

Yes, it is the same across Europe. I love the heat in CH, but not always in the UK - far too humid. Today it's 28 with a breeze, thankfully.. yesterday was 30, cloudy and not a breath of wind, hated it.. at least in CH, it's never far to travel up a mountain or to sit in a lake to cool down.

The long term forecast is Scorchio into August, so be prepared. Buy more ice lollies, Medea

Re: Weather!

Yeah, same here, but sunny with it instead of cloud. Bit better today as we do have a breeze. Outside temp by my room has just hit 28.1C. Yesterday the temp gauge out the front in full sun was registering 37.9C!

And yes, stocked up on ice lollies the other day (Migros didn't have any of my nice ice tea ones) and I'm keeping the ice cube box filled as well for drinks.

Time for me to roll out my favourite BBC News item of the year so far, again: Scotland prepares for scorching bank holiday weekend.

It's all relative, innit. For a Sydneysider, this "summer" weather is a pleasant lead-in to the main attraction.

Fairly accurate, except that they got the northern plateau wrong. It's a sub-tropical Paradise up here! Winters are crisp and just cold enough not to be damp; summers are pure bliss. A great place to live!

Well, I grew up in 100+F day after day in the summer but .... we had air conditioning which makes all the difference.

Normally I'd agree with you, but this is a bit too much "summer" for my liking

This is how I feel....

Re: Weather!

Told a lie, it did decide to rain. Chucked it down for 5 minutes and knocked the internet out. Third time since we went to digital from analog - that's progress for you. Rarely ever lost before. Gentle rain now, let's hope it keeps on for a while and cools things down.

Re: Weather!

We had some sizeable hail here near Bern that's now down to regular rain. I ran out and pulled in the glass patio table because I thought it might get cracked by the hail. The window storen might be dented too. Anyone parked outside might have some dents in the car!

Re: Weather!

Well, ours turned into a red alert storm a bit later according to Meteocentrale. You might have got it later 3Wishes, it was heading for Düdingen according to their forecast so might have reached Bern later on. Did get some very welcome rain. Was grumbling this morning and started to rain again at 6am and still doing so now. Much cooler and more pleasant. But I need to go to the post box and post a letter so will have to dig an umbrella out.

You should not be grumbling so early in the morning.
