Well, I'm ready to slit my wrists - and it only hit 28 today.

The 16 day forecast is for temps into the 30s, dry as a bone. I am not a happy camper.

---

I envy those of you who love hot summers - for me, sunshine is physically painful. Knowing we are in for a long stretch of this, with no way to cool the house down, I feel the panic rising already.

---

Trots off, looking for real estate in Antartica. Oh wait, that's melting too.
If you're really suffering, try to take advantage of evaporative cooling by hosing down the terrace, giving the floors a quick mop, spritzing yourself with a mister bottle, etc.

Re: Weather!

Should be set up an EF meeting in the mountains, where we can enjoy a cold wine or beer while laying in the snow?

I suggest a visit to France - it's only next door - while you let us enjoy the lovely summer.
I heard Bavaria is to your liking too .... should you prefer the language there.
And do you suggest the same for the forest trees?

Actually I referred to the floods there but forgot to put the link.

You are as deeply entrenched in Switzerland as the trees? Wow!

I enjoyed every minute today. And hope for more of it tomorrow.

If you seriously want a few tips, these are a few of mine from when I used to work in a bakery, and believe me in this much, we tried everything when the inside working temperature was 38 - 44 degrees C.

Don't wear outer clothes that touch your skin, particularly t-shirts (surprisingly enough). Men's vest tops are cut much lower in the arm hole than women's, so put on a pretty bra and steal your partner's clothes, or nip out and buy a couple.

Before you go out or go to bed, put a set of underwear and a deodorant roll on in a freezer bag on the top shelf of the fridge. I swear by this one. There are few things better than putting on a pair of chilly knickers when the sweat is dripping off you.

Invest in a perfume ice stick, such as this... https://www.parfumdreams.de/4711/Dam...SABEgLpefD_BwE
...and frequently use it on your pulse points. I had a Body Shop White Musk one back in the day (well it was the 90's).

Make a watered down spritz / body spray of your favourite perfume and keep it in the fridge.

Sleep with a oscillating fan at the foot of the bed. It might not suit everyone, but I can't sleep if my feet are hot, so I concentrate cooling efforts on them at bedtime.

Finally, feel free to wear sarongs around the house. They're pretty much all I wear when we're in Greece.

I know. It was the only one I could instantly find a link to. There must be other companies who make them.

Matroska has no particular reputation at present
Re: Weather!

Well, weather is great up here in Engadin.

Temps barely get up 23 and down to 5~10 at night.

I feel your pain "unterländer", having lived myself 9 years in Basel-Stadt

Chilly knickers!

When kids have trouble sleeping: wet face cloths kept in a bag in the fridge ready to cool little'uns down in the middle of the night, works a treat.

I think that’s a question of personal taste, I rather like it actually.

Must be or it would be on the market no more.
After all, this is produced under protected trade-name since 1875
And the recipe is still a secret.

As to the heat: We got a rather strong breeze here today.

Parties in your house must be fun

I was glad of the breeze here in Wallisellen yesterday, but today was just hot. It is to get even warmer on Monday and Tuesday..

Good clear skies for the red moon tonight.. and views of the amazing red planet.

Please, can someone turn the heat down? How about to 28°, or 25° would be even better

If you put the knickers on your head do they stop the perspiration from running into your eyes?

According to GMB, it's hotter in Zurich than Crete Mind you, when we landed in Crete last July, it was 30 degrees at Heraklion airport at midnight, and it hit 44 degrees in our resort 2 days later. The hotel pool was too warm to be any relief, so we spent all afternoon in the sea.
