There was some low cloud in one patch ( around Enges I'd guess) and everywhere else was clear as a bell.
All due to change when the rain arrives a bit later on.
EDIT: it was foggy yesterday morning for a short spell but it's true we don't get a lot at this end of the tunnel. OH is constantly amazed at the difference in weather between the two.

Drove 40 km from Delemont to Delle yesterday afternoon - in Delemont, warm strong bise/fohn and car thermometer showing 19 degrees. Through the tunnels at Porrentruy and out the other side onto "la trouée de Belfort" (basically a flat plain forming a gap between the Jura and the Vosges mountains) and the thermometer dropped to 11 degrees. Shivered running my errands in Delle and then came back to the warm tropics of the Ajoie plain and Delémont valley.

Temperatures are indeed much quite a bit higher up in the mountains above the fog at this time of year- as your post indicates. In winter though, they can be very cold- but a different kind of cold, brisk and dry, which is so much easier to cope with- rather than the English style cold of the lake areas.

The warm fohn/bise was being restricted and channelled in classic bise style to the Ajoie and Delemont valley areas. If I were a local geography teacher, I would have dragged the kids up Mont Terri to observe the topography and experience the phenomenon.

Hooops I think you got the gist though. Last week the temps were about 2 to 3 C higher during the day at 900m than by the lake (not your bit, I know ,) ) due to being above fog in sunshine. In winter it can be even more pronounced due to frrezing fog by lake and sunshine on the Jura- sometimes the fog traps heat below, sometimes not.
My post about reminding people that if they are trapped in depressing fog by the lake in winter, they should head up to the sun is not about 'nananananah' but many new to CH might not be aware of this. The winter fog can lead to serious depression in some people- and coming up for sun and fresh air on a regular basis can really help. You are lucky to live between lakes where the current seems to wash away fog quickly.

( happened to me before where I've changed a word for a better one and forgotten to erases the other one.)
I know how lucky we are to live where we do, we seem to avoid most of the unpleasant weather that other areas get be that fog, storms, wind, snow or whatever. I would hate to live somewhere that had that blanket of fog the whole winter and yet people living only a couple if kilometres away from us have just that.

Been chucking it down all morning and I've just seen a car with about 2 inches of fresh snow on the roof so it must be snowing quite heavily a bit higher up.
