Re: Weather!

It's because the Böögg was burning for 35 minutes - obvious, isn't it?

You can get tired of anything.

At my home in the states, there are more than 300 days of sunshine a year. I loved it when I originally moved to that part of the country from the midwest, but started missing the rain after a while (only about 20 cm per year).

Whenever it did rain, people tended to treat it like a bid deal, go out on the patio to watch the lightning, etc. Snow? forget about it, maybe 1-2 cm about once every ten years. 10 months out of the year, cargo shorts and a hoodie were as bundled up as you ever needed to get, unless going up to the mountains.

When we moved to Europe, I was actually pretty excited to live somewhere with seasons, lot's of greenery, and getting to see snow again.
lol I had the same experience when I left the PHX and moved to Munich in the middle of a rainy August. I stared out the window and smiled. My boss thought I was a nutter. She still reminds me, years later, that I once waxed poetically about the rain.

I was in the Berner Oberland this weekend and woke up to full-on snow. By lunchtime the sun was out and it had all melted. Later in the day it rained and by night it was definitely fall weather. Four seasons in one day. Now that's just awesome!

It will be snowing soon in Switzerland also, but at 700m. Luckily I am at 500m
It's January 4th, I'm at 800m and it has been raining since this morning

I wish I was in NYC (I prefer the blizzard to this crappy rainy weather any time)

Re: Weather!

I have vowed I will not complain about Swiss weather this week. My friends in Wisconsin are looking at wind chills of -75F.

Re: Weather!

You should be in the UK -the weather is so horrendous - gales, rain , power cuts etc since before Xmas.

My UK home in the south has been on flood alert and we have been notified to remove things up to the next level, my garden is a total wreck and it is impossible to find anyone to do any work. I have friends who have had days without power, tiles ripped off roofs and some homes flooded.

For me, the worst thing would be to be flooded - I feel so sorry for those people who have to endure that.

The world is currently experiencing very extreme conditions

Oh dear Smackerjack you are having a horrible time of it. The weather today in the Jura has been awful today, but at least the water runs down the mountain! We had eeerie light around 4.30 when the sun finally came out and we had rainbows everywhere around.

Stay safe- and keep in touch xxx

Re: Weather!

I believe Switzerland is a beautiful country and has the 4 season weather. If you enjoy skiing and outdoor activities, it is a wonderful place to live.

All well understood. But powercuts of more than an hour is not weather. Very strange

I heard it thru the grapevine that refirgerated cargo freights will be shipped from east coast USA to Switzerland to help with this disaster.

We could sum up the average temperatures in the Middle West and Switzerland and split the sum. Everybody would be happy

Re: Weather!

A symbol of the Roeschtigraben - Aprilwetter = 'pattes de mars' in French
Huge flakes - but sadly NOT fluffy otherwise known to the Brits as 'the wrong kind of snow'

Can't get enough of this sunshine, +10 degrees and clear skies in Winterthur! Also, definitely making my Canadian friends back home a bit jealous... Toronto has been having the worst/coldest winter in decades.

Re: Weather!

Miserable, $hitty weather in Bern today, in contrast to the beautiful blue sky we had yesterday. Wife is happy though, one of the local resorts in Fribourg (Charmey) had a 110 cm dump on the top slopes over the weekend.
