Probably the trees are not too worried
You do realize (ooops, I wrote that ) snow on trees with leaves still on makes them break/collaps?

And we have snow!

Not laying yet, but definitely snow rather than rain or sleet. Of course not changing the tyres over for another couple of weeks are we.
I sent Euromaster an e-mail (they have my winter tires in storage), asking for an appointment. This is what they replied: "Termine haben wir erst wieder ab den 12.11.2018".
So I guess the answer, at least for me, is: YES...another couple of weeks.

Re: Weather!

Yeah, earliest we got ours booked in for is the 9th. Still supposed to be getting warmer again next week so we might be able to hold on until then.

Meanwhile, the bird feeding house attached to my balcony window has blown over 3 times this morning.

In Zürich. The calm after the hurricane hit. Sky is now crystal clear-all the pollution from cars and cigarette smokers etc has been blown away!!

Re: Weather!

Yeah, we got the same. This morning at 6am it was trying to snow, then wind and rain for most of the day until around 3.30pm when the sun decided to come out.

But it's getting colder and I've got a cold.

Re: Weather!

It tried to snow here today. I gave it a firm stare and from one second to the next it went back to rain.

Gosh, I get better and better with this.

Gute Besserung!
Or 'tout de bon' comme on dit chez nous en Romandie

We've had a bit of everything here since the last day of Summer on Friday- rain, snow, bise, wind, sunshine, grey, blue - a roller coaster.

18C and full sun forecast for the week-end- so time to finish the few garden jobs required before full on winter and the beginning of temperature inversions - much colder in the plain at lower altitude below the 'sea of fog' ...(12C- so quite significant difference).

Lovely drive to Lausanne today, with snow capped Jura and full magnificent view of the snow covered Alps as we drove down.

Re: Weather!

Ah well- that got it totally wrong! Grey/white and 11C, not sunny 18C.

Last night went down to Neuchâtel for my djembé group, it was 7C when I left at 6.15, 7C just above the lake, and 7C when I got back up at 10ish.

Up to La Chaux-de-Fonds soon - wonder what it will be like up there.

Re: Weather!

Literally over night all the leaves went yellow and red here in the garden! Stunning. Guess the trees will drop them now before the fist snow.

Only thing that puzzles me: Is there something they know and I don't want to find out?

Wondering the same with my sparrow friends. They've been giving the bird balls hung on the balcony railing a right bashing ever since I put them out back in September. They get through a couple every 2-3 days. Good thing I have a large supply of them.

The lack of rain in the summer really made a difference

We never feed in Summer, just provide clean water. Sparrows are year round residents- but the other bird species totally change at this time of year- chaffinches, green finches, gold finches- all kinds of tits ... apart from long tailed tits we used to get by the dozen in our UK garden, and later bullfinches, bramblings, etc. Not seen any nuthatches so far - hope they turn up soon.

I only put a small amount of loose seeds out during the summer just to keep them knowing where a good food source is. Bird balls tend to come out when we go on holiday in the autumn (gives them something to keep them going while we're away) and get removed after the spring holiday, seeds replacing the balls.

Re: Weather!

Météo was a tad out of sink- but gorgeous today, not a cloud in sight and a very pleasant 18C - will spend afternoon in garden, cutting down last perenials, winter pruning roses, and planting bulbs.

Re: Weather!

Boootiful and sunny this morning- grey and getting colder from mid afternoon- just opened the patio door to let the cat in - pouring with rain - can't complain, the countryside and wildlife desperate for rain.
