Wow. Just looked outside. What a moon!!!

Yes it was amazing. Found it really weird though to see the moon all day during these pandemic times. The Mountain View has also been covered in a haze recently...

first the virus. Now the sun is going to burn us up.

"Ozone levels are at record lows across many regions of the Arctic. This means that the protective shield for the earth from life-threatening UV radiation is thin as it has been for a long time."

https://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/seltene...s-734814535930

and the Chinese are again being blamed for it.
Dumb question — is low ozone somehow connected with the lockdown/pandemic? I thought the reduced industrial activity had reduced air pollution which I thought might have improved ozone levels?

Upload photos!(If anyone has a good guide on how to upload images on this site, then please post!)
Its easy. They have a guide on EF somewhere.

Re: Weather!

It clouded over near 4pm and started to rain, big, fat drops- and I was so happy as the garden and the countryside is parched- got everything in, cushions, washing, covered the brazero... and then, it stopped. Aaargghh.

Not had rain here for weeks and nothing forecast until next Sunday at the earliest atm. Even then it just says slight rainfall possible. We've already had two dry summers and winters; we need rain badly.

They say the Sahara weather systems are moving more northward and will turn europe into a fairly arid place

Re: Weather!

Drought is gradually spreading across the country. There are hardly any chances of rain. The reason for this is a very specific, persistent weather situation.

Re: Weather!

yes, countryside and wildlife, birds, desperate for water and not even May yet. Just madness ... today was gorgeous again but with some welcome cloud.

Please please put large saucers of fresh water out in several part of garden or balcony, etc- for birds and hedgehogs. Hedgehogs rely totally on snails, earthworms and slugs, with some beetles- as there are none out there.

Re: Weather!

I've been "worried" about the lack of rain for about the last month now. At least it seems that's how long it has been since we had any reasonable amount of precipitation.

And I look at the two week forecast and see a tease of rain this afternoon and then... nothing for a week and a half.

How does a drought spread across such a small country? Does it start in the west and then goes east or from south to north or vice versa. Or does it originate on the Matterhorn and then spreads out?

I’d go for the Matterhorn theory. Rumour has it that space aliens have been shining lights on it, hence the drought and a new conspiracy theory.
