Re: Weather!

Basel got hit with a strong front that blew through this evening, bringing hail and heavy rains - followed by a beautiful sunset

only if you want to stay warm.

Our geothermal system turned on automatically the other day when the temps dropped.

But this is the usual time of the year for getting the heating going, we have just had an unusually warm September. Wait for the posts demanding landlords turn on the heat - before 1 October!

It would seem our landlord already turned on the heat. Boy do I love underfloor heat.

Re: Weather!

It won't be very nice in and around Zurich either. Can't complain too much though, this autumn was quite gentle so far.

Re: Weather!

Absolutely furious yesterday. It was very brigh and sunny up here, but we had an overnight booked at one of the best Hôtels in Neuchâtel (a present from a daughter) - and half was down the mountain we dipped into thick fog . Fortunately, a short while after we arrived at the Lake side Hôtel, the fog cleared and we had a lovely afternoon and evening on the balcony and the bar area- followed by amazing dinner. Coffee on the balcony again- a bit chilly but with an amazing moon lit lake. This am was a bit grey but we managed to have a nice trip with lunch on the lake - and it started to rain as we got back into port. Back home and pouring with rain now

Re: Weather!

Ah Chandolin is such a great place.

Here in the Jura, it is VERY blowy, but sunny. Been out foraging- got plenty of Juniper for the gin- and lots of field mushrooms- certainly blew the cobwebs away.

Good morning from Chandolin, VS!
Our car is still shod with summer tyres—it's barely October—so the drive down the mountain was "interesting" this morning. A couple of slides, despite keeping the speed to a maximum of 20 km/h. Bringing 2 tonnes to a halt on snow on a 10% grade is a lottery.

Meanwhile, the Post bus was flying up and down the mountain with no chains...

It was a different story coming back up this evening. Plenty of snow settled on the ground from about 1,600 m but the road was completely clear of snow and well salted. Lots of rocks and smaller stones from overnight rockfalls still lying on or near the edge of the road, though.

Re: Weather!

More snow today, then a bright, sunny afternoon... and another interesting drive, until I worked out that the windscreen defroster has a "This is serious" setting.

Re: Weather!

Got the Subaru's tyres changed yesterday, several weeks earlier than normal as we are going up higher mountains soon. My car Yaris can wait a bit.

Re: Weather!

Daily maximums are still in the low to mid teens around here. Still too warm for Winter tyres/tires.

Re: Weather!

Our new car has the winters on already. Would have done it either this week or next anyway.
