Some pretty violent storms here in Zug, hailstones the size of 1 fr coins falling for several minutes straight and carpeting the streets in white. I've never seen anything like it.

And I'm really not looking forward to seeing what state my car is in
I was driving and it was a nightmare. Though looks like my car is fine.

Re: Weather!

Loads of trees down, roads closed and blown down fences in Kanton Luzern.

Hit me at Hirzel, went hiding under the roof of a gas station. Pretty impressive with roads turning white and green. Hirzelbis closed now, trees down.

First pic is mine, taken in Schönenberg ZH, the second I stole from Meteoschweiz.

Re: Weather!

Tornado near the Neuchâtel/France border. It makes no sense, it's a mountain area, not that much heat over there.....anyway, take a look at a farm building roof being lifted to the sky. Video re-twitted by meteossuise

Re: Weather!

There was a lot of damage and some pretty impressive mudslides in Cressier near Neuchâtel too.
Cars swept away and mud torrents forcing their way through houses smashing anything in their path.
We had an awful lot of rain in a very short space of time yesterday evening.

This one had an amusing caption:

They are all absolutely fine in Cornaux, no îdea about Cressier as it’s impossible to drive through there. The whole place is just a mess and there are still loads of fire crews, police etc there.
I saw five tow trucks driving away with mud covered, damaged cars and had to do a massive detour to get to my students as I couldn’t go through Cressier.

Thanks.

Now that I remember there's a little liver that was put underground in Cressier. I guess they got the 1 in 100 years rainfall, the little river brought along rocks and trees disabling the underground infrastructure. Ideally, where there's a river there should not be something else.

Well, once a wise woman said:

Quote:
Floods is the word they use, but in fact it is not flooding; it is remembering. Remembering where it used to be. All water has a perfect memory and is forever trying to get back to where it was.

Re: Weather!

Again this annoying, non-stop rumbling for hours and hours. What happened to lightning - pause - rumbling - pause .... ?! And now these floods of rain. Again! I'm beginning to wonder, how much of all that water my tomatoes really like?

That puts me in a rotten mood. It will only last a few minutes but still, after a non-existing spring, this is what we get for summer? Seriously?

The weather seems to be synonymous with the EF. Very capricious. sometimes annoying, lots of rambling for hours, pause, rambling pause and etc.

Hang in there, we're in for a warmer summer than usual!

https://www.24heures.ch/vers-un-ete-...e-951938472161

Even though I believe it's a long shot to make predictions for 3 months in advance. Last time I trusted the weather prediction here for the next 4 hours, I found myself cycling in hail, 60km away from home.
This weather forecast aged well.. NOT!

Man, EF is just a tab on my screen and I'm mostly on an other one.

got any advise how to do that with this noise, cold and water?
The first time I just drowned my sorrows in a Lumumba - it was you way back then who reveiled that recipe to me, wasn't it?

Oh and as I said, the past week there are no pauses in between thunder, it's a constant rumbling. Friends of mine have notice this peculiarity too. Like a Boening 747 parking above the house with the engine on.

Re: Weather!

Holy moly!
That was quite some storm that just went over, as if the people around here don’t have enough to contend with already.
I hope the 500 members of the army currently working on the Cressida clean up managed to find shelter in time.

Really? Peace, quiet, sunshine and 29°C here!

Did that storm head direction East or did it bugger off to France?

Yep, we had nice downpour, some thunder and pretty windy for a while. Farmer opposite was even running his cows into the barn rather than leave them out. Still raining steadily, but wind's died down now.

You were lucky. It was much more than that here, golf ball sized hailstones for a good 10 minutes, gale force winds and fabulous thunder and lightning.
