Ao about 1 metre of snow up in the Jura- with amazing shapes all over the countryside blown by the wind- and now brilliant sunshine. Head for the mountains, rent skis or snow-shoes, or just fo for a nice walk.. Not seen so much snow and such a winter wonderland for a long time. Hurrah.

Here, due to the low temperatures, the snow stays in places OFF the road, which is beautiful. But I would prefêr 30 degrees centigrade right now, and the lake getting 27 degrees warm

Re: Weather!

nah- it is the great contrasts of life that make it so enjoyable. I so love Summer, warm lakes, the sea... but in Summer, like strawberries. I love seasons, each one as it comes, over and over again. I'd hate the year to be the same- in fact friends of ours who retired to Spain hated it, for that reason. They stayed 5 years but one day they looked at each other and said- we want snow, we even want rain- and green filelds and woods- and sick of those agaves and garish bougainvilla, etc. The packed and came back- in the middle of winter- in the next village.

But yes, looking forward to our holiday in Southern Sicily in early Spring

Sun only lasted a couple of hours, and we will probably have more snow later. Taking a few youngsters to try skiing over the border after lunch- should be fun.

Re: Weather!

Another foot overnight- and have been clearing snow since early this am as we have a big raclette party for about 30 in a few minutes. It's been snowing heavily all morning, and another foot has fallen since we cleared up. Better get beds ready, me thinks. And there is little chance I'll get to my 8am business meeting down in the Valley tomorrow am!

I was in Laufonnais near Basel and Rheinfelden a few days ago, and no snow whatsoever.

Re: Weather!

Basel has some flakes falling but they're only sticking to the roofs - and barely!

I'm sincerely jealous of you guys who are report so much snow!!! I never would have thought when I moved to Switzerland that I'd have to complain about there not being enough snow

Re: Weather!

Finally! Lots of snow, a delight.
It's not cold so I don't know how much it will last though.

Re: Weather!

Been snowing heavily again all day- and looks like it will keep going throughout the night. My 8am meeting down in the Valley looks very doubtful- even if the snowplough does come and clear the road early- it will take ages to clear the huge pile of snow that will be left in front of my garage. Snow is practically up to the window sills on the ground floor, and the wooden barrier around the garden has practically gone- stone wall around the back field has disappeared.

Re: Weather!

We've taken the train to St Mortiz today, for our glacier express trip tomorrow. It's clouding over now....hope we have more sun tomorrow. It's been an absolutely gorgeous day...once we got past Zurich, we had loads of sun. Lots of snow everywhere and people skiing everywhere. Beautiful.

Re: Weather!

Wow flipping wow. Rarely seen such a winterwonderland up in the Jura as today. The sun has finally come out- and the whole countryside is full of massive icicles and amazing sculptures blown by the very strong 'bise' (east wind, last few days. Shapes like the volcanic rock formations of Sardinia, or the massive dunes of the Namibian desert. OH has man-flu- but as soon as I've fed him, I shall be off for a walk.

It is very important to wait on your OH in his hour of need. Special treatments must have longevity until his symptoms abait.

Yeah, bloody cold here as well. Wind chill factor.

Re: Weather!

Been waiting on him hand and foot, hot drinks, blankets, delicious food- even baked some rock cakes and just handed him 2 with coffee just now- after tortellinis with left over Neuchâtel sausage, cream and the rest of the home-made wild garlic pesto from last Summer - so I deserve going out for that walk- and a flipping medal too
